lookin good , how does the scope mount work for you ?

It works just fine. It fits snug on the rails and it makes contact in the front and the rear. There was very little movement, if any before tightening down the screws. I had it laying around for a long time and finally tried it out with the Burris 2x7 BDC. I think it was one that GPG use to sell back when he was in business. I don't think it's as good as the DSA model. DSA's has more screws and locking plates, but it has worked good so far and kept it's zero.

Taken it to the range yet?

Yes, it's been to the range many times and I have taken it hunting a few times.

It was the nicest kit I have ever had. Very little wear on anything and it was nice and tight. However, it's not my most accurate Fal. It shoots fairly typical for a Fal. I get anywhere from 2 1/2 to 4 inch groups with it depending on what ammo I am shooting. For some reason this one favors South African for surplus ammo. It will shoot 2 1/2" groups at a 100 with the SA. I am still looking for a perfect hunting load for this rifle. I tried a load with Hornady 150 grain SST's but this rifle doesn't seem to like them as well as my other Fal's. Matter of fact it shot the SA surplus better. So now I am in the process of working up a hunting load using some Sierra game kings.

I have one more Imbel kit Fal but it's so ugly you guys would laugh at it. I was just using it for spare parts but I came into a receiver one day and decided to build it up. Unlike most Imbel's this one had been shot a lot. The bolt and carrier have a lot of wear and are quite a bit more loose than the others I have. Surprisingly it turned out to be my best shooting Fal. I can honestly get just under 2" at a 100, prone with the Hornady SST load and my bifocals on When I first built it I was planing on cutting the barrel back to 18" so I never refinished it. It shoots so good I don't dare touch the barrel now. So I guess I should refinish it this summer so it looks good enough to mount a scope on.

My FAL seems to like heavier bullets. Between the hornady 168 grain BTHP and the Remington 150 grain core-lokt, the 168 grain shot a lot better. But then again, it just might be the BTHP design that makes the bullet shoot better.

For my nest shooting test, I want to pick up some heavy Remington or federal 308 and see how they do.

I might try some heavier bullets myself. I have found that many times a BT bullet will work better than the same bullet in plain base, but not always with all guns. I have a couple of rifles that prefer plain base bullets over boat tails for some reason. One is an old model Ruger M77 in 30-06. The most accurate load I have tried in it uses plain old Speer 165 grain round nose bullets.

For deer, black bear and smaller I don't have any problem with using a BT bullet. However I feel a bit more comfortable using a solid base design when hunting bigger game such as moose. I understand that some of the new BT bullets are suppose to be very effective on large animals but I am old and more set in my ways. I still use lead pistol bullets.

that is a very nice thing to hear , so often we hear otherwise , im always pleased to hear the successes , ive been fighting mine a little but its mostly due to removal/replacement repeatability ,
