Colt Model 1877

Hi there!
I hope this in the right spot. I have an old colt model 1877 "Lighting" that was made in 1880. it was my granddad's, and was in piece's when I got it. It had been re-nickeled and a lot of that has flaked off. I finally got it back together and working recently. Then I ordered the historical paper's from Colt, and now I find that the gun was originally blued. I don't know what to do with it now.
Should I have it re-blued, or leave it alone? I know it will never be very valuable, but I don't want to destroy it either. I know the nickel job was done a very long time ago, and was very crude. Anyway, thanks for any advice I can get.
