Savage 93R17BTVS .17HMR

They have one at our local sporting goods store for $289, has anyone tried one or bought one? Been toying with buying a .17HMR, just wondering if this one is all it's cracked up to be.

I wouldn't pay that much. I paid 169.99 for my Marlin wood stock/heavy barrel on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods.

If you wanna pay the extra money for that stock and SS then go for it. But thats all your paying for. The standard Savage and Marlin with the HB are both already scary accurate/fun as it is.

I have to agree. If you have the money and like how the rifle looks, by all means buy it. The other ones are just as accurate.
Happy shooting

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas. As they say, a fool and his money soon parteth, so being a sucker that I am it will be in my safe this afternoon. Now, should I stick on a 4-12 VX 1 Leupold that I have sitting around or buy on of them BSA Scopes made for the .17HMR ? The Leupold is a little overkill IMHO and it will end up on a centerfire rifle sometime later more than likely anyway but I am not into crappy scopes. I have had to have Tasco's and Simmons in my younger days when cash flow was a little tight, they work, matter of fact Tasco's are plain tough but being that Leupold's are built down the road from me and they are excellent optics, I have a special proclivity towards them. Give me you ideas guys!!

I have the BSA target 6-24X40 on mine. I think the sweet 17 would be good as well.

I wouldn't go with the Leupold becuase, as you stated, it is over kill. I would want atleast a 20x on a 17 anyway. You gotta be able to see them little varmits.
