Price of meat lately

Have yall seen the price of meat lately?

My wife and I went to the local grocery store to look at some meat for labor day, and pork chops were $3.25 a pound. The last time I remember buying chops they were $1.25 a pound.

Well...you look at the price of fuel and you'll see part of the reason, but the part that most people don't see is the Gov't spending our money to put corn in our gas tanks, and guess what happens to the price of feed for pigs and cows, and chickens.

I find everything in the grocery store a lot higher then it was a little over a year ago. I wish my paycheck increased as fast as groceries and fuel do.

yes you are right Kevin meat has jumped in price. so has peanut prices (better stockpile PB while you can) and corn prices. I deer hunt some and use corn to feed deer and turkey, it has gone up 25% or more. also check honey prices - near 50% jump. I'm hopeing to peg a deer this hye4ar, have 2 doe tags - my Mini30 does great for smaller whitetails. I "may" have an invite to hunt an abandonded farm in upstate SC that is overrun with feral pigs, I did 4 years back then the owner got to charegeing for hunt rights but the pig population continued to swell so now 'may' allow past free hunters to come in. 120 acres, with 2 more farms of soybean and hay either side. I've got 2 down there in years past - you talk about a pig roast now. very good eating kids were pulling off strips of meat, dipping in mild sauce and gobbling down.
BTW I think we've seen the last of 99cent/lb whole fryers, cheapest up here in WNC is 1.39$/lb with split breast @ 1.79 and leg qrts @ 89c/lb.

Last march I found 200lbs of 100% organic free range meat that was about $1.00 per pound...after licens,tags, and processing. It was a 165 yard shot at a cow elk and it was friggin' wonderful while it lasted.

found black angus london broil yesterday for $2.99lb at a small grocery I shop at some. always been good quality, the BA ribs are really flavorful but they have really had a price increase since about 1.5 years back from $1.59 to $2.39 at sale price usually 2.79

from what i'v seen everything will go up by 30% in about 30 days

Yep, feed corn is way up and feedlot fees are way up, also cow hay is up. Marlin 45 is right on peanuts being up also, my wife and I just got a jar of Skippy, $6.45 and I had commented on the price.
Fuel prices have some to do with it and the value of the dollar has a bit more to do with it. Expect it to get a lot worse. I have a feeling we are heading into super inflation and a massive depression thats going to make the one we had in the thirty's look like a cake walk.

We are having a drought , here in the mid-west , so the crops are not very good !

It will be a supply and demand thing !

Yea your right, I heard soybeans got hit hard also. I was at the livestock exchange in Fallon today and they were talking about the price of feed corn and cob and they were saying that even though feed corn grown around here is fed here the bad crop in the mid west is jacking the prices up locally.
