Well opening season of Nebraska rifle season was another good time for my buddies and I. We harvested our fair share of whitetails and got some great deer for some new hunters. What a blast…
My success was good. I harvested a nice buck, which looked like he was hit by car, but well worth the harvest. When I saw him first I did not notice that he had knocked off his right side at the brow tine. I came up out of a ravine about 30 yards away from me on the right side. He stopped right behind a tree blocking that side of his rack. All I could see was chocolate four-point rack on his left. He was very mature deer with a low belly. He spotted me moving to get a better look, so when I noticed that I had a clear shot on his vitals I took it. I only notice that he was missing half his rack when I walked up on him. Oh well, that's hunting. He did have some road rash and big puss pocket on his back. The Biologist at the check station believes he was hit by car in the last two weeks. Other then that he looks great and no meat was lost...
My 1/2 rack, if he was balanced we guess he would have scored 140+ He also had some his tips broken off as well.

But the exiting news of the weekend is that I took my good friend that I just got into hunting this year. He harvested his first deer in October. Well he had a buck tag and wanted me to help him harvest his first buck and second deer. Well He got his wish!!! Pictures below. We also tagged out on our doe's as well. Muzzelloader and late season here we come...
