Hi guys! I am seriously considering offering a new product version, an Accu-strut in a short version. The new model would be 5" long, a full inch shorter than the Accu-strut 2, and would be undamped with only one barrel clamp. Unfortunately due to my struggles with health problems, I have been unable to test such a configuration at the range, and can't make any accuracy claims. But enough people have indicated an interest in such a product that I could proceed with manufacture. Any thoughts?

Would this new product be applicable to my new Tactical Mini ? If so, count me in ! And while I'm at it, we'll say a little prayer for continued health and prosperity. Thanks for bringing a great product to market !

Yep, this version will specifically address the short-barreled Tactical market. And thank you for your thoughts, my friend!

Funny thing is, a few days ago the wife asked me if there was "anything I needed" for the new Mini (fishing for a Christmas gift idea)..... at the time, I couldn't come up with anything - now I've got something to shoot for - pardon the pun.

Since my sons will be receiving decked out 10/22's for Christmas, we are planning a range trip for 12/26. I could provide you with some video and/or range report, if you'd like. The Mini 14 is still a virgin, so it might be interesting to see how she performs over time through an afternoon at the range

Let me know your thoughts and hopefully we can make it happen. Oh, how much is my lovely bride gonna spend on my Christmas gift - any thoughts on pricing ?

John

I'd be very interested, John, in any of your feedback. thank you for your generous offer. The socom should be much cheaper on materials and manufacture. I'm shooting for a price point of around $89, (we'll see what my manufacturing director has to say about that ;))

Well, once you settle on a price, feel free to message me or repost here - I'll keep an eye on this thread for awhile. I'll give the wife a heads-up that something good has appeared on the X-Mas list horizon :)

Also, if you have any preferences as to how you'd like me to test the unit "in the field" just let me know how you'd like to proceed and we'll go from there. I'll be breaking in the Mini at the same time, so it might be interesting to see what happens.....

I'm also a pro digital photographer, and can provide you with some great photos, as well, should you desire.

Looking forward to this ! :rapid:

Basic before and after performance, any test protocol you can come up with would be great. Basically does the product enchance accuracy. It may not, or may help a little. Any way it's sort of a beta launch, see if there's a market. Maybe people will just like the "looks"! We do love our firearms, don't we. ;)

Ok, I'll work on a set of protocols and we can go from there. Thanks !

Tell you what, since you've been so generous as to offer to provide some test results, I'll ship you out an early evaluation unit at no charge if you can provide me with your shipping address.

I've officially put in a purchase order to have a hundred Socoms manufactured. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to complete, so should be ready for the Christmas rush! I hope this proves to be a popular and useful addition to our product line. As with the A2, the Socom will be available in blued, SS, and combo finishes.

Once I receive a unit for evaluation and get it mounted I'll set up the portable studio and send you some quality digital photos for use on your web site, etc., and then will follow up with a full range report when I get back from Florida

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday !

The initial lot is at the logo-ing stage. Looks like a pre-Christmas release is imminent!

That's great news, sir ! Am due to leave for FL on the 22nd or 23rd, with a range date of 12/26. If you can get one to me before I leave I'll do the evaluation over the holidays. If not, I'll do it when I return after the first of the year.

Best wishes for a successful launch and a wonderful Christmas season !

Just an update, the Socom lot hit a snag (did I think it wouldn't? ;)). We are having the finish reworked, as the quality just wasn't there on the first pass. Hopefully we'll be ready by the end of the year.

DOH ! Oh, well...... I'm still taking the Mini-14 to Florida with me. You're the boss - whenever it feels "right" for you we will proceed. Merry Christmas, K !

I am very interested to know what this will do for accuracy as I am looking for the first mod for my tactical. I got all excited when I came across the drawing on your website, but then I couldn't find anything else about it until a google search sent me back here.

Just to put my 2 cents in I'm anxiously awaiting shipment, too. As I wrote in a PM to you when you first announced the model just let me know when and how much to pay and I'll be among your first "testers" for the SOMCOM model. Yours will be the first add-on to my Tactical!

Shouldn't be much longer. I just got a few advance units. Still have to work up the packaging collateral.

I just ordered the socom today. Is there any chance I could purchase an extra clamp in the future? This should finish my build. Can hardly wait to get it installed try it out at the range.
