Hello Gents, I just bought some " .308 Winchester American Eagle 150-Grain Full Metal Jacket Boat Tail " rounds. I was wondering if anyone has used these and what were their thoughts on the ammunition. I am not able to shoot this right now because I am in Iraq till August of 2010. But I saw it on cheaperthandirt.com for 15 bucks a box so I bought 25... I figured it was a good buy because all the other online sites want at least 20 bucks a box. I hope somebody has so imput for me, Thanks.
also forgot to mention I will be using this ammo in a Rem 700 SPS with bull barrel thanks again
They are a good alternative to Winchester white box. I often shoot American Eagles out of my AR-10 with good results.
May not be as accurate as match ammo (especially out of your rifle) but they might shoot MOA if you're lucky.

thanks for the imput!
yes as soon as i get back to the states in august i plan on doing exactly that! I'm not looking for match ammo, but something that for the most part hits what im aiming at without causing harm to my rifle. And doesnt cost an arm and a leg. besides im not shooting 1000yard bench. i'll be shooting paper and steel upwards of 600meters at most.
last year i bought some wolf 150 grainers and they were decent but not through a bolt rifle.. i had problems locking the bolt closed with a round in the chamber. every round got shaved by the extractor when i rotated the bolt closed so i stopped using it after about 25rounds. i dont know much about reloading but i think they needed to be "necked down" if thats the right term.. im sure its okay for semi-auto guns.
another reason i bought the american eagle was 1. Price and 2. its reloadable federal brass. i dont know about or own any reloading equipment but it i plan on learning in the future and was looking at lee single presses

I have put several hundred rounds of the stuff through my M1A and my PTR 91. I have had no malfunctions from it and it is reasonably accurate for the price. You made a good buy

The brass is good. I shoot it out of my Saiga. I will reload it twice and shoot it. The brass generally needs trimming after that, so after the third loading I store it away.

I like the American Eagle ammo. Great for target practice. I own three Saiga's, one each in .223, .308 and 7.62X39. It has been my experience that they will eat any ammo you feed them.
