I just wanted to share an easy way to stipple your front strap. Use a paded vise and a starret automatic punch. My punch spring broke 1/2 way through so I removed the punch from the body and used a hammer to give the firm tap. Use even blows with similiar strikes staying away from the frame edge. You can see where a couple of times I got to close to the edge straying from the designated area. The rounded border of the top/bottom was made by tracing 1/2 the circumference of an alchohol cap with a pencil. I tapped out a line of stippling around the entire border then filled the rest in. This was my first attempt at such a modification and I'm very pleased, I really don't have the funds for checkering so this was a cheap alternative. If I recall it took about 2 hrs of punching. This stainless model Springfield made it easy because theres no need to refinish it when you're done. Good luck-
