Good work it looks great so far.
Yes it does ... let us know how you like that micro dot after more use, will you?

I certainly will. I am interested in the durability of this little sight. So far it holds zero, heat hasnt been an issue and i have nothing but good things to say. The range i went to last week was only 50 meters so i still have more to do. I was getting groups so close they may as well have been in the same hole, using wolf classic fmj.
Primaryarms.com seems to have a good reputation and my experience has been positive. Marsh is a stand up guy and very upfront about the product, what it is and what it is not. He was sold out at the time i ordered. when i asked for an ETA on getting more in stock,he went as far as activating the back order function on the website to allow me to order one , shipped it and had it here in less than a week. I cant afford to put a $600 dollar optic on everything i own. If this thing holds up, i will be ordering another.

More news about the micro dot, and all is well.
The sight along with the rifle went through a 4 day "field" test of sorts where it was dropped , intentionally thrown, and soaked in a really cool thuderstorm (i did dry it off once i got back in my tent).
Once again it kept zero. Hundreds of rounds put through it at a time. Heat and recoil did not seem to hurt it. Soda cans were not safe at distances easily over 100 meters. On the final day of the trip we broke out the old clay pigeon launcher, and to be fair we sent them low and flat, but this thing was hitting them.
I am aware of the limitations of the little sight. You probably dont want to take it swimming or jump out of planes with it, but for the price, it aint bad. Overall i am extremely impressed.
Sounds very good. Sorry if you posted it elsewhere and I missed it, but what model optic is that?

it is a primary arms micro dot. check out www.primaryarms.com
If it's this
http://www.primaryarms.com/product.sc?categoryId=5&productId=4
they're out of stock.
$89 if it works well and holds up is a great price.

In my opinion it is a fantastic little red dot for the money. Is it as durable as a $600 aimpoint micro? Probably not, but for $89 it kicks ass.
The dude from primary arms is in the testing phase of a generation 2 micro dot, which looks promising. The main difference being that the brightness knob is located on the side, like an aimpoint micro, rather than the top, and it comes with a quik detach riser for co witness on flat top ARs. I plan on getting one once they are available.

Honestly i am not 100% sure as of yet. Its on an izmash/saiga reciever. As for the rest of the build, i am still trying to look into it. I purchased it back in May from a buddy who knows absolutely nothing about it. It had polymer k-var furniture (i think) on it when i bought it, which i promptly replaced all but the lower handguard.
Here is a list of what i put on it
VLTOR ak-47 extension tube (i highly recommend)
Magpul MOE stock, mil spec diameter (vltor tube requires mil spec)
ergo sure grip
ultimak scout mount (also highly recommend)
primaryarms micro dot
I have a few more things on it now, just not pictured. Ill break out the camera this weekend if i have time.

So what do you think about the new family member?

I have yet to fire it but so far im happy with it. I havent been able to find any serious flaws with it. I was going to go for the yugo, however a large selling point on this one was that all the accessories i currently have and intend to get would fit without any serious modification. Here you go sir.

So did you order the GP through Classic or did you come across this in your local shop? I really like the looks of it. Nice and clean. I would like to put a three rail forend system on the lower hand guard, but that's my personal gun fantasy. :P I really hate how summer sucks up my finances for toys. :)

The first AK is a converted Saiga.
The GP1975 rifles would be great if they had the original barrels. The Green Mountain barrels they use are tubular turds.

Yes the first is a saiga conversion of some sort.
I got the gp1975 locally. Being that it is from century i wanted to fondle it before i paid for it. I have read the barrels are not the best. I do not plan on doing any precision shooting with it. As long as it goes bang every time the trigger is pulled ill be happy.

A few hundred rounds and new items later....
I love it! The CTR looks great on the AK. I have been planning something similiar...only with a type 84 flash hider and different optic.

Had them out for routine maintenance and found myself in the bathroom again with the camera.
In the process of changing out a few parts.
