Went to the local gunshow in Wichita ks Sunday. There must have been approx. 15 AK 47 for sale mostly "new" and a few used ones. Price's $600 to $700.00 range. With previous shows these would all be sold on opening day but this was late in the day at the end second day of the show! Hopefully the prices might come down when dealers realizie everone has enough rifles, but ammo is the new "Shortage" bubble now. Prices are creeping up even at these local shows! Well that's the news from the midwest!
Have a good day! Rock Creek

I was at the Big Town Mesquite show 2 weeks ago and they had AKs at about that price. All the ammo was overpriced from what it was even 4 months ago. I did find 40 rd AK mags for a good deal. Ammo may slack off eventually, I don't know though and all the experts have no clue either. Uncertainty is driving all of this!

Thanks for the report. Take care!

I think prices have stabilized at about the level discussed above, but I'm not yet sure if it was a bubble (i.e., not sure the prices will ever return to where they were a year or two ago, at least until control of Congress or the White House changes).

I've read in several articles that many arms manufacturers have already committed their entire year's output. Assuming they've committed at current prices, dealers won't really be able to sell for less.

As for ammo, barring an import ban, I think prices will eventually decrease. Obama tried to ban the sale of spent military brass, but it failed.

I suspect Obama will take a stab at serial-numberring, but also that the pro-2A Dem's will kill it. Until they do, or at least when Obama makes the push, there will be another price spike.

An import ban might succeed, taking away my favorite practice ammo's: Wolf (for rifles) and S&B (for pistols). Even the pro-2A blue dogs might accept an import ban as a compromise and/or on buy-american principles.
