I recently acquired a FN FAL parts kit, It was originally purchased from Century International arms inc. The item description reads "Parts kit, FN FAL klit, Original Plastic" and the part number was MG722A. It came with a lower receiver/stock, bbl and a plastic bag full of parts/springs and rods. Can anyone tell me what I have and what it will take to complete this weapon?

It's hard to tell what you might have. Century has made completed Fal rifles out of both inch and metric parts. They have also built Fal's with a mixture of both types of parts. You may have a Century built rifle that someone has torn down and sold as a kit, keeping the receiver for themselves. this is getting more common as SOME of the Century rifles were built on very well made Imbel receivers. If it was originally bought from century as a kit, (not a complete rifle). I still have no idea. I don't know if their kit's were complete kits or if they took extra parts laying around and built a kit. Another words it could be a complete inch kit or a complete metric kit or a combo of the two. Best thing you can do is to post a picture of your kit on the Fal files with pictures of each part and any markings on the main parts. They will tell you in short order what you have.

I see you got yourself an inch kit. It should make you a nice rifle when it's done. All the ones I have built have been metric. Not a whole lot of difference in the build process other than the breaching washer. Anyway your in good hands! Those guys over there will get you sorted out.

Great! Your going to love it when it's done. They are a little like the mini. Very reliable and plenty of accuracy for practical use. However they are not match guns. They are battle rifles! They also work just fine as a hunting rifle. If you don't mind me asking. What did you decide for a receiver?

I think I will go with a DSA...Sorry about the late reply.

DSA makes a great receiver IMHO one of the best. They are just about plug and play. My only complaint is the wait time for one. Get on the list as soon as possible.

"They are a little like the mini"

Did someone hit you in the head? They are nothing like a mini! An M1 or a M14 are a bit like a mini.
But nothing is like a FAL, L1A1, SLR!!!

No my head is fine. I guess you missed what I was getting at. I should reword it. IMHO the FAL is a little like the mini, in that they are both very reliable rifles with plenty of accuracy for practical use. Another words they, (both the mini and FAL) are rugged built rifles that will serve a person well for most uses. However they are not normally ultra target rifles.

Oh, that explanation makes much more sense than the blanket statement above.
I was under the impression that you were talking about the operating characteristics.

After more than 20 years of using the mini in my career, I have grown to loath it as it is too short and the controls are not positioned very ergonomically for larger people, thought IF it was equiped with a pistol grip stock it would be much more comfortable to shoot.
Then again, if it was so equiped it would be an AR wouldnt it?
