Which reciever?

While i was on enterprise arms website looking at the imbel kits, i was also looking at the uppers. What are the differences between the Type 1, 2, 3, and the G1? I want to build my own gun and any other deals or cheaper kits are out there, i would appreciate any other info. thanks.

+1 on the files. Go on there and do a search for the different types of receivers. You will find all you need to know. Kit's are drying up and there is a long wait at times for receivers. I try to match my lower and upper together. Example, if I have a type 1 lower I use a type 1 receiver. It's purely cosmetics but I think it makes for a better looking rifle. While Imbel kit's may not be the sexiest of all the Fal's they make great shooters! Most have very good bores with well worn outside finish, (Read shot very little and carried a lot). This makes a good build as you will more than likely refinish the rifle anyway. Also the Imbel kit is normally the less expensive of the kit's. As there are still a few around in numbers. It's getting harder to find a G-1 kit in great shape and if you do it will no doubt cost more than the Imbel. Hope this helps!

If you can still find an StG58 kit, (they are getting pricey) and a DSA reciever, you will have as good of an FAL as has ever been built. The StGs were well taken care of, and some of them are near-new. They're not too hard to build yourself, or you can have a gunsmith do it.

Don't waste your money on a Enterprise, some are good receivers, some are so far out of spec that their nearly unbuildable, why chance it? - Join the FAL Files & you can buy a DSA receiver directly from them for $350, it will be in spec, forged instead of a casting like Enterprise rec's & if you ever have to sell the gun it will bring much more. Also like the other fella said get a STG kit, their is nothing wrong with a Imbel, i have several, but they aren't nearly as nice as a Steyr STG
