Last night I tried out the durabake finish (mfg by the duracoat guys) on an AR upper/lower/stock
Its so easy a caveman can do it. As long as you dont mind using your oven.

My only hints:
- degrease it, for a long time. Be sure all the oils are out of it. The first lower was not. The coating wont stick as good.
- ruff that original finish up good.
- do several light coats
- your second lower will look better than the first
- your wife does not want you to use her oven. find a oven at a garage sale or go to a bachelor's house you are freinds with.

sorry it took me so long to get back. I am just not to sure about my artistic ability to make up the pattern. I am sure the paint will stick just not sure about the pattern.?
I'm lost

From my understanding you need to do a base coat, then use a set of stencils to add patterns. Painters tape could be used to do that. This will probally work better with regular duracoat because the tape probally doesnt like being heated in an oven.
When I do a woodlnd camo pattern using spray paint this is my method of application
1- cover the whole this with OD green, let dry
2- cover 50% of the area with brown (sections of brown, not half OD/brown), let dry
3- Use tape, and paint the spots where brown and OD meet with khaki. let dry
4- use more tape and paint black over the khaki, letting the khaki divide the black from the OD or brown areas......
You can throw gray in the mix if you wish.
