I've seen it all over the internet. Nostrodamus, the Mayan calendar.

What have you heard and do you believe it?

Things that the internet sees as suspicious:

Obama has only daughters (antichrist can have no sons)
Obama is of Jewish decent (from a bio on his mother)
He comes from a religious background
His mother is athiest
His mother was 3 months pregnant when marrying his father
His past is hard to follow
Lots of his aides are anti-Israel
He believes in a one world unity
He is charismatic and loved
He came out of no where with little experience
He seems ripe for assination (some explain because he's black)
(the antichrist will have an attempt on his life, be hurt and seem to miraculously survive)
His reign in power coincides with the Mayan calendars 2012 end of the world date (if he wins)
Removal of the American flag and instead using his own symbol on his plane, and now using it everywhere.
His nomination acceptance inauguration set in a temple-like stage.
His promises seem too far out of reach

I'm sure there are more.

I have wondered this myself. But NO, I don't think so. The anti-christ will come out of the revived Holy Roman Empire. Also some bible scholars believe he will be of Germanic/Jewish descent.

I thought he was to come out of Romania, or was that just a book I read once...?

This is only plausible if you believe pre-millenial dispensationalism. The problem with that is much the same as with rapture doctrine, innovations from the 19th century and has no biblical or church history. I am not discounting the reality of an anti-christ but understand that the book of Revelations was seen not only as futuristic but also as contemporary to the end of the 1st century when John the Evangelist wrote it. We waste our time reading into it our situation and era.

He's anti-American, but not the anti-Christ. I didn't see any charisma during the saddleback forum. He's just a well spoken charlatan with an empty resume and no executive credentials.

The whole mayan calendar 2012 business is a new age hoax invented by José Argüelles in 1987 just to make money from the gullible. It has been denounced by every reputable archeologist and astronomer as a complete and utter fraud.

The Mayans ordered their Long Count calendar used to record historical events into B'ak'tun of 394 years each. To them Dec. 21 (or 23 according to some researchers), 2012 is only the start of B'ak'tun 14, no more an end of the world than Jan 1, 2000.

The Mayans also had a 260 day "year" religious calendar and a 365 day lunar calendar for agriculture, but neither had the accuracy of the Long Count calendar. Because of the religious implications the 52 year cycle that resulted from those calendar start dates coinciding did cause unrest among the common people, and a belief that ghosts walked the earth on that day, but the Long Count was of historical significance only to the priests and scribes of the Maya.

There are no unusual and significant astronomical events in 2012. The sunspot cycle ends and the sun's magnetic poles reverse but that happens every 11 years anyway. We are not aligned in some way with the center of the Galaxy but are 70 light years off the plane of the galactic disc and that distance will be increasing for the next 37,000 years.

As for the Obama Antichrist business, forget it and all the other weird stuff. Obama is a typical far left Democrat, an elitist marxist socialist. Obama wants to establish, gradually, a paternalistic welfare state with complete control over the economy, society and people of the United States because he firmly believes we are not smart enough to manage our own lives. Obama was nominated because he has been groomed by the Chicago machine as the ultimate affirmative action candidate, a clean, well spoken and optimistic black man with almost no resume.

Isn't that bad enough?

Making bizarre claims only dilutes the presentation of the facts against Obama. It may lead many of the undecided voters to confusion and disgust, and they may reject both the far out anti-Obama claims and the truth about his ideology.

I dont think even Irvin Baxter of end time ministries believes Obama is the anti christ, but that he is part of the path to the trials and tribulations or whatever the end times are.

I think the whole "antichrist" thing ends up playing into Mr. Obama's "god-complex" quite well.

No. I don't think he's the antichrist either.

I DO, however, think he has a SERIOUS god-complex, just like another of the "great" leaders of our semi-recent past, Mr. Adolf Hitler. Have you ever listened to one of his speeches? Mr. Hitler knew exactly what to say to the crowds (good speech writers) at what time, and got the crowds all wound up and supportive of him, especially when he would point the finger of blame for their problems in a direction they could all strike out in, regardless of whether it was an accurate direction or not. Sound familiar? Mr. Obama has learned his masters lessons well.;)

I think he'd actually like the idea of being called, or compared to, the antichrist. Rather fits into his power-hungry image quite well, doesn't it?

I'm going to call a Godwin's Law incident on this one. One, I really doubt Barry has read Mein Kamf, and if he happened to I doubt he took any speaking lessons from Corporal H. Now the loony left gun haters, they seem to take their legislative cues from despots, but I really don't think Obama has graduated to that yet. He's a junior senator, barely out of the blocks, which is one of the reasons why I have serious doubts about the guy.

I also don't believe BO would get his jollies comparing himself to the anti-Christ or similar position. I don't believe his fantasies have gone quite that far. I suspect he is just trying to "organize a bigger community" since that makes up most of his resume'.

His beliefs may run counter to many of our own, but let's not elevate him to such lofty evilness unecessarily. <_<

The Bible says that there are many anti-Christs among us. These are those people that are militant anti-Christian. But before the one spoken about in Revelation will appear, two major events have to happen. First, the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem has to be rebuilt. Next, there has to be some kind of world-wide organization that is, or is loosely recognized as a one-world government – everyone will have to answer to a single economic system. We aren’t there yet.

The anti-Christ: No.

An anti-Christ: YES.

Christ means "deliverer". If you are going to "deliver" people to someplace other than where they are supposed to go, then you would be an "anti-deliverer" or anti-Christ.

The pied piper was also a form of anti-Christ. This is an appropriate metaphor for Obama.

Actually Cobradoc, I believe there are three occurances that must happen before THE antichrist appears.

You mentioned two of those and the third is that the Old Testament Jewish sacrifices must commence again in the rebuilt Temple.

You are correct. And did you know that the Sanhedrin has started to be reformed, because they muct be in place inordet to dedicate the timple and to select the chief priest (Rabbi) that will conduct the sacrifices.

Very true. It biggest being the "the Great Schism" of 1054 over papal authority and the filioque, then the Reformation, then perhaps the Americanizing of interpreting sacred scripture along with the seeker/emergent/independent non-denominationalism. All these fracturing and schisms creating "instant authority" without true understanding of how the ancient church understood them. Once everyone argued over the Pope's authority, now every person is their own "pope" reading "translations" and basing doctrine on 21 century thought. Now I need to go read some Tim LaHaye, that is some work of fiction he has gotten rich off of.

Read about the history of early Christianity - there were at least a half dozen previous crisis points in the development of the church from its roots as a messianic Jewish sect, and some of the resulting splinters are still around today.

Alright, let me preface this by saying I do not like Obama at all.

The "flag" he had removed from his plane was a corporate logo. This, like many other things has been discussed here ad nauseum. I think it would be in everyone's best interest if this was not brought up again.

no, but there is a youtube video (I think I saw it there?) featuring a Black American AME church pastor in a sermon saying he is 'out of Hell' and buddy of Beelzebub ( one of Satan's cheif Luietenants).
the endtimes won't commence until the U.S.A. cannot (or will not more likely) support the Nation/State of Israel. this will lead to the signing of the 'Treaty with Hell' and rebuilding (rapidly with today's equipment and technology) of the Temple of Solomon.
