on August 4 of this year.

Wonder how long it will take her to flip flop, and be against it.

Think I'm kidding? Think again:

Palin Pleased with Obama's Energy Plan
Includes Alaska's Natural Gas Reserves Print Now Printer Friendly

No. 08-135

August 4, 2008, Fairbanks, Alaska - Governor Sarah Palin today responded to the energy plan put forward by the presumptive Democratic nominee for President, Illinois Senator Barack Obama.

“I am pleased to see Senator Obama acknowledge the huge potential Alaska’s natural gas reserves represent in terms of clean energy and sound jobs,” Governor Palin said. “The steps taken by the Alaska State Legislature this past week demonstrate that we are ready, willing and able to supply the energy our nation needs.”

In a speech given in Lansing, Michigan, Senator Obama called for the completion of the Alaska natural gas pipeline, stating, “Over the next five years, we should also lease more of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska for oil and gas production. And we should also tap more of our substantial natural gas reserves and work with the Canadian government to finally build the Alaska natural gas pipeline, delivering clean natural gas and creating good jobs in the process.”

Governor Palin also acknowledged the Senator’s proposal to offer $1,000 rebates to those struggling with the high cost of energy.

“We in Alaska feel that crunch and are taking steps to address it right here at home,” Governor Palin said. “This is a tool that must be on the table to buy us time until our long-term energy plans can be put into place. We have already enjoyed the support of Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, and it is gratifying to see Senator Obama get on board.”

The Governor did question the means to pay for Obama’s proposed rebate — a windfall profits tax on oil companies. In Alaska, the state’s resource valuation system, ACES, provides strong incentives for companies to re-invest their profits in new production.

“Windfall profits taxes alone prevent additional investment in domestic production. Without new supplies from American reserves, our dependency and addiction to foreign sources of oil will continue,” Governor Palin said.

We have known about the resources in Alaska for years and Palin will be for any plan that can benefit her state. The Dems have too many liberal tree huggers that have kept the US from tapping the resouces and off shore drilling. I don't think Obama will follow thru with any kind of plan.

That's a stretch, even for you. If anything it sounds like his acknowledgment is coming around to her way of thinking. But of course he passed on the petroleum part.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but don't get a lot of our NG while exploring for oil? Is gas extraction equipment less intrusive to the environment than oil extraction equipment? If not, why stop at gas when oil is the logical next step? Oh yeah, I keep forgetting (cough) about CO2 emissions and the evil oil companies. My bad.

Probably about as long as it's taken Obama to reverse his following positions:

Some of which he's done overnight.

Which one of Obama's plans are you talking about? He's got several of them, depending on the audience he happens to be addressing at the time.

Sarah is only supporting the natural gas part of his plan. Anyone and everyone has this in their energy plan, its a no brainer. Natural gas burns clean and the U.S. has huge reserves in NG.

This is hardly a full blown endorsement of Obama's plan.

I say again, she was acknowledging that he finally got something right.

Question though, why is it that you can't agree with an opponent if they get something right? Why is that so wrong? If an opponent comes up with a good idea that benefits the American puplic, good for him/her.

I agree, well said.

Out of context, freesw. Which makes it a BIG FAT LIE.

“I am pleased to see Senator Obama acknowledge the huge potential Alaska’s natural gas reserves represent in terms of clean energy and sound jobs,” does not mean "I support Senator Obama's energy plan completely and fully."

Using more natural gas is about the only thing they do agree on. Palin had just pushed the legislature and oil companies into funding a big natural gas pipeline to get the North Slope gas to the lower 48. Otherwise she's in favor of drilling everywhere. Right through a polar bear's head if that's what it takes.

Obama's natural gas ploy is just that. He's in favor of using more of it as a clean fuel and maybe because T. Boone Pickens is handing out $$$ to anyone who says they like it, but Obama doesn't want to drill for it, at all, anywhere, until recently when he started getting worried that the voters weren't accepting his statements that high energy prices were good for their character.

So, once again, you've shown us another way Liberals can lie.

We should all know that the most convincing lie is the subtle lie that closely resembles the truth. Liberals are absolute masters of this technique...mix together just the right quantities of truth with untruth and many can be led astray. Hmmm...wonder where they learned it...

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made...

I don't know. Goebbels liked the Big Lie. Repeated enough it becomes truth.
