This is an article I saw in the UTNE reader yesterday at the health foods store. It's a liberal rag, and surprisingly the argument was not to ban all guns. Read it an make of it what you will. It focuses more on selling guns as a way to control crime. Can't say I agree with the article at all, but just perhaps perceptions are changing. Is it a move in the pro-gun direction?

I think we need more "idiot" control than gun control.

As long as free people remain free (can be armed) the idiots (of all kinds) will be controlled.

Smarter than your typical liberal mag.
Funny you say you saw it in a health food store; that's where I've seen it too. :D
Anyway, I know many don't agree with any attempts to "close the gun show loophole" and really wouldn't like holding private sellers accountable for the status of buyers, but I'd like to hear a better idea. If someone can sell guns, day after day, without really knowing anything about the buyers, how should we expect that firearms can realistically be kept out of the hands of criminals?

You cant keep the guns out of the hands of criminals. Even in the UK with a defacto ban on guns, there is still gun crime. I think the point was made as a reply that there are already laws on the books to cover the sales, if thats not enough more laws will only muck things up further. My point of view is that you dont have to check who you sell kitchen knives to or your car, nor should you (as a matter of principle it's your property), I dont think you should have to check who you are selling a gun to either.

Yeah, the scary thing is "they" are beginning to think.
