I heard there was a problem with the Beretta 92, where the locking block on the barrel cracks after about 4000-6000 rounds. Is this a huge problem for any beretta 92 owners out there? If it does crack , is it easy to fix?

Well I heard that problem was due to the US govts overloaded M882 ammo. It was cracking at the 5k mark because of the 50,000 units of pressure the nato 9mm was pushing... it is suppsed to be 35,000
I actually read that on the interent so it is just as true as hearing it from someone I guess.

So if I use standard winchester rounds, that piece will last longer than 5000 rounds?
Why not post this question on the Beretta forum?

Seriously, I doubt if there would be so many 92 owners if they would only last 5,000 rounds.

I have one that has god only knows how many thousand rounds thorugh it (most likely 20-30,000) in 9mm rounds. Never had a problem but I did upgrade to a newer verison of the locking block after a friend offered me one for free. Don't notice any real difference.
