Anyone have one of these and what did you do to it to get it to shoot reliably?

I had an Automag III. I traded it for a Taurus 92 and have had no problems since (almost 15 years later). :)

that seems to be the opinion of a lot of people. If you want to quit having problems with one of these, get rid of them and the problems will go away.
