I'm visiting with a friend in Jacksonville, FL. He has a G 17 with the late receiver, finger grooves, light rail, etc. However, there is only one pin above the trigger. I have tried removing it, but it will not move, even with light hammer taps. My G17 has two pins above the trigger. No problem removing them. Does anyone know if there is something special in getting the one pin out or do I just need to hit it harder with the punch???

BTW, I can't remember my password to get into my mail from where I am, so if you will, reply to lirascal@bellsouth.net if you can help. Thanks.

Try getting an answer at Glock Talk. www.GlockTalk.com. LOTS of experience there. :)

Thanks for the info. One member told me how to extract the pin. We did so, changed out the trigger from 5 lbs to 3 1/2 and put in an extended slide release. It was a snap once we got the pin out. It seems that his pistol was made in Austria and shipped here for sale even though it was a third generation pistol. Mine is a third generation but made in GA.

:) I'm not going to comment on what is, or is not, a third generation Glock.
If you haven't already been told: Remove that single (#1) pin from the left side of the frame by using either the Glock armorer's tool, or a 3/32's long shank machinist's punch. Slightly wiggle the slide stop as you begin to press on the pin. Always reinstall the #1 pin from the right side of the frame. If the pin stalls, wiggle the slide stop again as you apply pressure to the pin from the right side of the frame.
Of course you recognize that the position of the slide stop's leaf spring is different on one and two pin models, right! Your friend's pistol has the spring on top of the #1 pin while your pistol would have it underneath the #1 pin.
Next time you work on a Glock, lose the hammer! (It's completely unnecessary and might, in fact, damage the pistol.) ;)

Smyrna, GA is the importer mark
HKs say Herndon, VA IIRC but they are made in germany.

you are trying to push it out from the wrong side!!! glock pins have a taper and can only go one way. IIRC you have to drive them left to right
