Hi Doc. I would like to paint the blue hardware to mount the Accu-strut a gray color to better match the color of the Ruger mini stainless or Accu-strut stainless. Duracoat offers quite a few grays. Can you recommend one of their colors that you think might come close to either or both? Also, given sufficient time to cure, do you think the paint will withstand re-assembly of the strut?

To be honest none of them will match wel on their own. I have mixed titanium and black to create a close match, and you can see it on my website in the photo gallery. It's on my mini and a Howa 1500.

That said, when I do camo jobs, I routinely rub the finish with steel wool to flatten the edges of the colrs where the stencils were. DuraCoat is very durable on low imapct/low friciton parts.

Another alternative is to match the rufge finish through balsting. The stainless finish is acheived through a mix of aluminum oxide and glass beads. The parts be blasted with a similiar mix and clear coated. Or refinish the whole rifle and parts. Refinishing all of it will make every part uniform in appearance. Thanks!
