A few pics of my current project, Remington M-700 (.308) and my last run to the range. This was at the 200 yd line.

What is the glass you got on it and how do you like the Choate stock? It looks pretty good, have you tried Federal Match out of it?

The scope is an FM 10x40x56 first focal plane Mildot and damn good for the money (less than $300. The Choate USS seems to be everything they advertised. The fit and finish are excellent and it installed in half a heartbeat. I guess the only down would be the overall weight. As far as the toys diet, I have tried several types of ammo so far but not Fed match (all in due time). For the most part i've been feeding it the cheap.

168gr MatchKing's should print nice if that is cheap ammo.

S&B 147 grain ($9.00 per 20) Took me the better part of an hour to get the weapon clean after shooting this stuff!

I have the FM 4x14 FFP scope on my 700p (bought it from Mel in February), great glass for the price. I haven't yet shot any match ammo, shot some Lake City .308 they had at the gun shop priced out at $12 a box, should have bought more just for the brass. It grouped around 1" at 100 yards, not shabby for military ammo. Getting ready to shoot some handloads, trying on getting down under 3/4 moa, hoping for .5 moa so I can keep it in the 9 ring or less at the 600 range.

I know what you mean about chasing that .5moa, I'm at the point where i'm going to have to start tailoring my own loads. Also giving serious consideration to installing a Krieger barrel.

Don't give up on the barrel yet, perhaps truing the action or bedding the base and or action before you change out the barrel. Might even want to look at recrowning to a target crown.

CM, if you want to get .5 MOA you must remove that chinese glass from the top of that rifle...seriously, I know you dont want to hear it but thats got to go.Take a look at the tasco (yes I said tasco) super sniper sold only at www.SWFA.com one of the best optics you can put on a rifle that doesnt have made in germany or austria marked on it. do a search, you will see.
As far as ammo, try a box of federal gold medal match or black hills match, if they dont give the desired results handloading is your best bet. Save every fired round that comes out of the rifle so you can neck size it, it will fit your chamber perfectly and align the projectile down the bore like no factory load can dream of. Oh, and as far as cleaning goes, if you are cleaning that rifle with a standard 3 section aluminum cleaning rod STOP NOW, get a one piece steel rod and a bore guide and use it every time.
I`ve got a bore guide I`ll give you and I can loan you my neck sizing die till you get your own. I turned a savage 10fp into a .5MOA rifle and it made my nipples hard every time I shot it, you should expect nothing less from that remmytin.

The Falcon Menace is a british scope made with japanese glass. It compares very well to the Super Sniper, IMHO it is a step up. They are first class scopes with a great customer service.

Thanks for the education Goss, I assumed FM was in reference to "famous maker" like you find in shotgun news for $59.95 and such. Please excuse my ignorance.
