Here's a new one that came out at the Shot Show: a Taurus "slim" 9mm, a pocket pistol to compete with the Kahr line, and holding 8+1 rounds. Can't wait until it hits the market, to see what it feels like. I'd probably prefer this over a .380, for a pocket carry.

I'm glad to see more companies getting into the pocket pistol CCW option.

I'm curious to see more details about this one. I have a Kel-Tec P11, and like it, but it is very rust-prone.

I'm curious to see if this or the new Ruger LCP is stainless (and I mean barrel as well as slide). I'm not sure why pocket pistols, because of their inevitable, and in fact intended, exposure to moisture, are made in anything else.

A Ruger I'm REALLY looking forward to in this category is the allegedly forthcoming SR9 compact model. Ruger won't admit it, but the leading industry watchers that I read (such as Michael Bane) seem to believe that Ruger definitely plans to follow S&W's MP, and Springfield's XD, in offering both full-size and compact models in the same line, trying to get repeat business from people.

This would be great. Ruger would be stupid not to follow with a compact model (though we all know they've done consumer-stupid things -- Mini Mags!!!), but maybe they're finally turning the corner. Maybe they're getting UN-stuck on stupid. The LCP and 2008 Mini "NRA" models are positive indicators.

Quick question only if you know. Does the current SR9 have a magazine stop safety (can't remember the correct term here . . . when it won't fire without a magazine in the well)?

It does. But apparently, they've made it so that a user can disable and remove the mag safety yourself. I'm seriously considering buying an SR9. They feel and point like a 1911. I haven't gotten to fire one, because my local range that does rentals doesn't have them available yet, but I have picked one up and messed with it in the shop.

Thanks. If it can be disabled, fair enough.

When you checked them out, did you get to try the trigger?

I've been trying to get my wife to upgrade to 9mm, but she hates the Kel-Tec (both P-11 and PF-9) trigger (can't blame her). If this trigger is decent, we may have a winner.

The trigger was the ONE--and I mean, ONLY one--thing that I really wasn't that fond of on the new SR9. Everything else--the grips, the backstrap, the grip angle, the sights, the finish--all seemed pretty nice to me. Still not quite on par with my XD, though.

Timlt , give them A little time , they will improve them , I think there starting to listen to the customers. I wainting to see the compact SR9 , I like the 9mm over the 380 for as A real compact pistol.
