Our deer season was winding down so I had to settle a smaller deer than I was hoping to harvest.
This six point was standing broadside to me at 135yds and the little .224, 65gr Sierra GameKing did a great job--the buck dropped in his tracks with the bullet taking both lungs and clipping the spine.
I've read other posts about the 65gr GameKing coming apart and this one did too. The largest piece of the bullet that I found was 20grs of lead without the metal jacket and just under the hide on the opposite side from entry.
However, the bullet did hit a rib on its way in and then the spine causing tremendous damage and putting the buck down immediately.
I plan to continue using the 65gr GameKing with even more confidence.
The load was: 65gr GameKing, 23.5grs Benchmark with CCI 450 primers for 2680 fps velocity 6' from the muzzle.
