I can decide which of these semi autos to buy. They each have 30+ round aftertmarket mags available and are supposed to be very reliable. Any of you guys have suggestions? Pros & Cons?:) Which one to buy??

This one is not on your list but I think you should consider the Smith & Wesson M&P. The M&P is being adopted by many agencies around the nation and I LOVE mine in the .40 S&W caliber.

Why the XD9 Tactical? It is much longer than either one of the other two, having a 5" barrel/slide.
That being said, I previously owned a G19. Sold it off. I presently have an XD45 Service (4" bbl). I'm now looking at the XD9s in Tactical and Subcompact. Indecision stinks.
I had a good chance to look the Ruger SR9 over at work. Great size! Great capacity! Worst trigger I've tried on anything but a stock S&W Sigma.

Mebbe it's 'cause I grew up on the 1911 and HiPower, but I never shot a Glock that well because of the sharper grip angle. On the other hand, the XDs make hitting seem almost effortless for me, especially the Tactical. I love mine (4 and 5 inchers), but confess to a preference for the Tactical, even if it is an inch longer. I haven't seen the new Rugers, so no help there. I'll echo drridgway's suggestion to look hard at the M&P. It's my next pistol purchase. With the 3 interchangeable backstraps (included, no less!) even the double stack .45 fits my hand, which is rather small. The smaller frame 9/40 simply feels and points great, damn near like a HiPower.

With the Springfield XD, the Glock, or the M&P as suggested by the others here, you will do just fine. I think with these three in particular, it's VERY important that you get to a range that rents pistols, or at least a gun store that will allow you to pick them up, work the trigger, see how they feel in your hands, etc. You will definitely like one of these three, and you'll probably be able to tell fairly quickly which grip and sights and trigger combination among these that suits you best. I have fired all three of these, and I would personally recommend either the XD or the M&P, whichever fits your hand best. I still slightly prefer the XD, because I love that wonderful, 5 lb, single-action trigger pull, plus the simplicity of use (which I think is important in a self-d pistol). There's no thumb safety, just grab and shoot.
As for the Ruger, you can see we have another thread (http://www.perfectunion.com/vb/showthread.php?t=59687) in the Semiauto section discussing it, including a link to a review by Jeff Quinn (http://gunblast.com/Ruger-SR9.htm). The Ruger sounds like it may turn out to be a great pistol, very interesting, and possibly very well made. I just can't help you much because I haven't fired one yet. Jeff Quinn speaks well of them, but doesn't like the trigger and believes the accuracy is so-so. That's all I can tell you on that one.
Good luck! You've got a good line-up of options here, and you'll do fine.

+1 on what timlt said. You really have to shoot these guns to decide which to buy. The Glock in particular will sit drastically different in your hand when you shoot it and "points" high in many people's hands. I personally sold my G21 because I shot very high with it in combat environmnets. Just because a LE department carries it doesn't make it the best.
I personally don't care for the new M&P trigger. It doesn't have a trigger re-set that I can feel and I have problems with that because of my style of shooting. For some, they don't notice it because their style is different. Other than the trigger re-set, I really liked the feel and design of the new M&P series.
I really liked the idea of the longer barrel in the XD series. I think that the longer barrel really evens out the look of the gun and I like the slightly longer sight radius it affords. Of course you can find teh same thing in the G34 or 17L if you really like the Glock better.
I didn't care for the trigger in my XD45, but my wife's XD9 has a much better trigger and I enjoy shooting the piece much more. They are accruate guns and I recomend them highly.
I'll tell you what I really like about the XD's the most. They are in my opinion a safer gun to own and it is more user friendly. Here is what I mean:
- I like the grip safety that positively blocks the sear AND keeps the slide from cycling if you don't have a possitive grip.
- You have to lock the slide back to function the take down lever. Unlike the glock this forces you to open the action (by default expelling any round that might be in the chamber). You don't even want to know how many people I have seen have AD's with glocks while taking them apart...
- The mag release is accessable from either side of the gun and is rounded so that it will not cut into your hand (glock is square and can really cut your hand if you aren't careful)
The XD has a lot to offer for a good entry price.

Which one fits YOU best?
Personally I can't see 30 round mag availability being a deciding factor, or even a contributing facor for thatmatter in ANY pistol I would ever buy. Then, I'm not into spray and pray and not so low on juice that reloading every 10-15 shots is a burden.

The G19 is the ONLY one of those with a FACTORY 30+ round mag, if capacity is a priority ;)
That's my choice for many reasons :)

Right now I think if buying new, the M&P is the way to go. S&W has a $50 and 2 additional magazines rebate. I just picked up the M&P 40 and
it's a fine pistol. I've shot all three and the trigger differences are negligible to me. Whichever you buy, you will probably end up with at least one of the other as well.:D

Spingfield XD. Gun mags love it, shooters love it, and the only people that hate it is GLOCK. :D
I love mine. Just load and shoot and put it back in the case. It has AK47-like reliability and is accurate.

I had a Glock 19 for twelve years.
I tried a XD Service, sold the Glock and never looked back.
I have since upgraded to a XD 40S&W. Love it!

FAA, have you tried one of the EFK 9mm conversion barrels (http://www.xdpistols.com/item/52351__XD_Service_9mm_Conver.aspx) for your 40 yet? I'm thinking about supplementing my XD9 sc with an XD service size, but possibly getting in a .40 S&W, and then adding a 9mm conversion barrel so I have that option too. I've talked to a number of guys who said that when they add the 9mm barrel to a .40, it doesn't give up anything in accuracy at all, so you're basically getting the ability to shoot two calibers in one gun, with no loss of performance.

I agree, the M&P is worth considering. I just did an extensive firing test with one of their compacts, after renting it for an afternoon at my range. Shot it side-by-side with my XD, to test. Found it very soft shooting and comfortable to grip. And it was every bit as accurate as the XD.
One thing to consider with MP's. Though all makes of guns experience a few lemons and problems, the M&P is a new model, and seems to be experiencing (IMHO) an excessively high number of reports of issues from new buyers. Undoubtedly there are a majority of happy M&P buyers out there, but there does seem to be more than an ordinary number of complaints of the following issues with these guns: feeding issues with HP ammo, failure to achieve slide lock-back, slide rust, and light primer strikes. Just make sure you fire the gun for yourself before buying. You may decide that these reports are a small minority and don't concern you, but you should at least be aware of them and try out the gun if possible.
Here are examples of a couple of reports that caused me to decide to hold off my purchase for another 6 months or so, and see if S&W can get these issues handled:
Reports of Tech issues with new MP's (http://mp-pistol.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=14) (from the M&P forums)
T&E report (http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=83347) on two M&P's by a police officer (slide lock-back failure)

Good thread............
I too am looking between the XD9 and the SR9.
My father (SWAT) has carried the GLock since It came out and I have carried the Berretta for 20 years in the Army so both of these guns are off my list just do to the fact I want "something" else.
I am a BIG fan of Rugers owning several rifle models and a MKIII/45 but having said that, the XD9 seems to be a lil better in the quality dept to me.

I am a big fan of the XD series. I have owned a 9 and a 40 and both were excellent weapons that made me look like a better shooter than I am. That being said the new ruger fits in the hand even better than the xd but I have yet to fire one.

I also own an XD9 SC, great gun but it does have a little flip to it, but expected for a compact handgun. I am thinking about getting it larger brother the XD9 compact. I also have my eye on the Ruger SR9, the only thing about those are that the frame really looks like plastic. Kind of bothers me.

I have an XD-40, 4" barrel I like the gun fine, but I rarely ever actually carry it. I can't exactly put my finger on it, but the gun has no personality. It always works exactly as it was intended to, I even did my CCW test with it. I find I prefer to carry my Steyr .357 Sig, or a multitude of other guns.

You can't go wrong with a Glock! Glocks are simple, no nonsense handguns used and trusted by many agencies and armed citizens.

I have always been a Ruger fan. I own severla rifles and a MK 22/45.
I really really like the feel of the SR9 but, I got my hands on a XD40 last week and liked it as well too.
The .40 would be a better defense gun I think harder hitting...the rounds of course a lil more $$.
Decisions, Decisions.....I will get one of these in the next year.

Ruger just released their new 22/45 with 1911 style grips at the Shot Show.
They're all good guns. Handle them all and then you make the decision. Personally, I like the Glock but that is just my opinion.:D
I've been shooting an XD40sc and a G27 for the past several weeks. Both have been accurate and dependable, but the XD would be my choice if I were to choose between them. The grip safety gives the XD a margin of safety that glock doesn't have.

My vote is for my xd(m)9 over the glock that I SOLD
