Here's a pic of the nice 6 pointer I shot, weekend before last.
Not worthy of the Outdoor Channel but the biggest I've shot.
I made some awesome deer-Jimmy Dean mix grilled hamburgers
Sunday out of him.:)

congrats Fatdaddy, that is a dandy. i took a nice six also this year. corn fed & went 135 dressed. gooood eatin. wonderin what the rifle is in the pic. can't quite tell.

Thanks. The rifle is a Ruger M77 MkII stainless 30-06. I put some camo tape on it to tone down the shine.

I usually try and shoot them in the shoulder. Most of the time they drop where they stand and I've never had one run more than 40 yds. This time I had to thread some trees and all I had was a neck shot. I was quite impressed with the results. The 165 gr. Winchester pointed soft point mushroomed to a little larger than the size of a dime and stopped just under the skin on the other side of the neck. The only thing that bothered me was there was no blood. The entrance wound looked like a cigarette burn and the deer didn't bleed at all till I started dragging it out of the woods. I think I'll start taking the neck shot more often.
