:( Doc, I won't go into all the details but my ghost ring sights from R&R Arms took almost two weeks to get and that was after they claim it was shipped twice when it was not. Got it from them in one day after Visa told them I wanted my money back.
Anyway, the package and literature say the sights are for a Win. 94 AE and I have a win. 94 AE Trapper so I figure it should work just fine....NOT!
When I put on the Ghost ring it seems great. Then I tried the low plastic post because it's the same height as the new front sight they sent me. It's way to low and when I look through the Ghost ring my original rear sight is in the way so I had to remove it. It was on the lowest setting.
My original front sight is much higher than the one that Ghost ring sent me so I put it back on and now I have a great sight picture but I haven't shot it yet.
Now for the big problem! If I tighten down the Ghost ring there is no way the bolt will move with the lever (You can't begin to cock the gun) The Ghost ring holds it tight. If I back the screws off just 1/2 turn everything works great.
I really don't want to send it back and go through all this again so how about if I place a small shim under each side with a hole in them for the screw?
I'm about ready to pull my hair out! Thanks for any help or tricks you may have. Sorry for the long crying session:( Mike

Just a second thought.... How about taking a dremmel with sanding rotor to the inside contour of the Ghost ring instead of shims?

Are the screws binding the bolt? Grind the 1/2 turn out of the screws and reinstall.

As for sight height, as long as the front and rear match you'll be OK. Even if the were 12 inches tall. Mixing and matching is a frustrating experience. let me know if this helps and we can go from there.

Doc, It was the Ghost ring sight that was binding the bolt on each side where the radius just about runs out at the screw. I used a round file and took ff a little at a time on both sides and then used the dremel to take off some of the whole radius. Now it has a couple thousands Clarence all the way across after the screws are tight and the bolt works very smoothly.
Using my old front sight works great but I'm as low on the Ghost ring sight as it will go and I'm hitting 2" high at 25 yards but dead center in a circle the size of a quarter. I can cover three shots of 170 g 30-30 with a nickle in the center of the quarter by holding 2" low. I'm guessing that it will be perfect at 50-70 yards.
It's raining out and cold and I'm just getting over a lung infection so I'll sight it in a little more on another day see what happens. Thanks again Doc for your response and for helping all of us with your free tips and tricks. It means allot to us poor boy's,:) Mike
