Gun Doc, Just ordered the XS Ghost Ring sight set for my Win 94 AE Trapper. Is there anything I should know before mounting them like problems or tricks? Should I use a touch of supper glue on the screws? From what I have heard the glue they send with them is permanent. Thanks for any suggestions you may have, Mike

Congrats on an excellent set of sights! To install them the gunsmith way do this:

Clean the holes and screws with lacquer thinner. Dip a Q-tip in the thinner and twist it down in the receiver holes, repeating until it comes out clean. You can either use a small cup and soak the screws or hold them and use the Q-tip method to clean the screws. ALL oils must be removed.
Make a dry run of the mount to be sure the screws will fit, and not bottom out. If they do bottom out, you'll need to shorten the screws.
Remove one of the screws and put the locker on it. Just a drop will do. Put the screw back in, but don't tighten it fully yet.
Do the same for the other.
About a quarter to half a turn at a time, tighten the screws. Don't go crazy, just tight is enough. The locker takes a few hours to cure so you'll have plenty of time.
If you want to go all out clean the mount and receiver area with lacquer thinner and put a couple of drops of locker on the base so that the base is "glued" to the receiver.
Admire your work!

All lockers - blue, green, red, purple - will come loose with sufficient force or heat. Use the red stuff XS supplies for a permanent mount, bearing in mind that with a heat gun or propane torch on low you can heat the are and break the locker free in the future.

Doc, I'm 62 and can spot a mouse in a field a hundred yards away  but in order to read the paper my arms aren't long enough without my reading glasses. I don't like scopes and the V sights are a little blurry while the front sight is fine. I have always shot everything (bows, shotguns, pistols, rifles and revolvers with both eyes open scoped or not. It's just the way I was taught by Dad so that you are always aware of whats going on around you in your peripheral vision. I'm hoping this Ghoist ring helps with the older eyes. It's hell to get old! :( Mike
