i just got done refinishing my Century Arms GP WASR-10. i know, Century sucks, but it's a Broondog special now. Tapco G2 single hook trigger set and a Tapco gas piston as well. the sight block nor the gas tube were canted. i even changed out the old bolt carrier to a brand new Romainian one since Century botched the threads in it making it impossible to just "slap" on a new piston. i also put in a FCG pin retaining plate and got rid of the shephards crook.
after stripping and sanding and "wooling" it baby-ass smooth, i put on 2 coats of MinWax Pecan Satin stain/poly mix. now the furniture is as tough as the rifle. i also polished out the charging handle.

what do y'all think?
You did a fine job of refinishing your WASR. I am glad to see that you figured out how to post pictures.

thanks NWO. i've only been an owner now for about 6 months and i have fallen in love with them. i also have an underfolder which i'll post as soon as i get the Galil front end on. they are as much fun to work on as they are to shoot.
and since i live in the country i can field-test any mods that i do in an instant. i have a 1000 yard clear field of fire directly out my front door!
only in America!

I never thought to sand down the furniture and then stain it. That is awesome. I'd like to so something like that.

Yeah, I destroyed the butts on my 2 WASRs removing them... wish I had them now.
