Do the fal rifles have any quirks that will make them unsuitable for lefties? I know that the garand style rifles are not freindly often droping hot brass on my head and I will assume the M1A will do the same. How about the fal?

I shoot left handed and I have no problems with the FAL, either inch or metric.

Thanks fhood.
About where does the brass land, right and forward, straight to the right landing paralel to the ejection port, or right rear?
Anybody else?

Mine throws it straight to the right mostly.

I shoot right handed. However some years ago the Club I belonged to ran a monthly match, Service Rifle, which involved shooting off both the left & right shoulder. For quite a while I used a SLR. Aside from the position of the cocking lever & the safety I had no problems off the left shoulder.
Can't remember exact brass ejection pattern but never bothered or distracted me when shooting cackhanded.
Always wore shoting glasses so can't comment re any crap being ejected into the eyes.
If you are using it left shoulder round a solid corner or barricade you may have to stand back a tad to ensure the brass clears freely on ejection.

Left wingers aren't allowed to own FALs.

ostrobothnian. You are wrong. They are quite happy owning them.
That way they can ensure that no one to the Right of them owns anything.

Eh. Good point. I was thinking from a myopic American position.

I find that the extended safety lever as sold by DSA makes left-handed operation quite a bit easier.
