I dont think anyone is making an auto 22 mag pistol these days. ya should keep an eye though for a AMT automag those were probably the best 22 mag pistol ever made. back in the day you could get one for like 250 bucks new now they will run ya 400+ for a good used one.

The AMT is back (or will be soon). Other than that, Excel Arms (Mitchell Arms markets the same guntoo) is the only other maker of a .22 mag semi-auto.
well actually...Volquartsen offers two pistols based on the 10/22 and I believe they're available in .22 mag.

There is one sold by a company from here in CA that gets great reviews. I can't remember the name of it to save my life right now though...
They make carbines that take the same mags also.
The neatest thing is that you can buy the 22mag handgun and then swap out to a 17hmr barrel if you want.
Grendel model p-30 if you can find one. 30 shot .22 mag, I think it would be more fun than a FN FiveseveN for 10% of the ammo cost and similar ballistics. Before you thread a .22 mag you might want to hear one, to me its like suppressing a .223 (115gr 9mm sounds the same to me also). The magnum cans I saw cost as much as a P22 and a Outback II together ($750 for a AWC stalker) of course your mileage may vary. Good hunting.
The AMT is definitely back (sold by High Standard), though they don't come cheap. $695 MSRP.

Personally, as was said above, I'd be tempted to check out Volquartsen's new Predator offering, which is like a long, heavy-barreled semiauto pistol based on the 10/22 action. You can get it in any of the four rimfire calibers, but boy, will it cost you.

You might have to "settle" for a 22 magnum REVOLVER ? Only my opinion here, but they're much more reliable than a 22 mag semi auto pistol and by far more accurate. No hi cap boom booming with the revolver, however, but you'll probably hit 99% of what you're aiming @...and... isn't that the general idea?

They also have a conversion for 1911's that you can get in 22mag or 17hmr

I would not mind the .22mag conversion for a 1911 at all.
That Voltz-a-cantrememberhowtospellit is a nice gun and I know for sure there is a reliable magazine for it, that tacticalinc 10/22 25rd machined aluminum version. If I were going with the 10/22 platform I would most likey SBR something.
Is there a barrel length that is so short it takes the magnum out of the .22mag bullet? A length that would be best suited for a .22lr?

If you want a .22 conversion for the 1911 go with the Ciener kit. It looks like a stock 1911 and swaps out in seconds! I just wish they made it in .17 HMR. They also make one for the AC-556 and they make 30 rd mags as well.
Oh and they are getting 1-2 inch groups with the 1911 at 50 yards!

I wish I could find a local place that has the ciener .22mag conversion on hand for a 1911 . I need a m-16 and ac-556 .22lr conversion as well, just something to cheapen the 5.56 cost curve. Also, .22 is alot quieter with a supressor vs .223.
Someone at work told me to enjoy buying this kind of stuff while I am still single.

You want a Grendal p-30. It has a 30 round mag and a theaded barrel.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I dont believe that ciener makes a 22mag conversion.
