Both of these pistols were considered for US army, but Beretta eventually made the cut.

I just wanted to get your opinion on these two. I own both, and feel that although Beretta is more stylish, it is like a Ford Mustang w/o SVT engine. I mean had it been a .45 then the size of it would make sense.

On SIG 226, I really like the decocking mechanism. I think in a confrontation its more useful then a safety. Wehereas you can get the hammer to be decocked in Beretta as well- only with one extra step of first engaging the safety and then taking it off.

From the different reviews that I have read here it seems like SIG is very accurate. It has good reputation, but lacks the style.

On Glock: I think it simply the best pistol ever made in my opinion. It never jammed and never malfunctioned. It takes out the target with good accuracy and magazine capicity is not only decent but there are bigger magazines available. Someone was arguing with me that it does shoot as well as SIG while you are running and discharging your weapon, but I can't comment on that since I have never done that, eventhough, I have a feeling from my expereince that Glock would not fail me.

Another person argued that Glcoks are removed from FBI because agents kept shooting themselves in the foot while taking it out of the holster. In my opionion FBI should fire such agents who makes such stupid errors. Period.

In terms of Beretta v Glock: both have style but since Beretta is unecessairly heavy I will stick with Glock. Not to mention one needs to have really big hands to fully grip Beretta. I just dont see added feature in the Beretta. I have it because I am a collector. One more thing. I like decocking feature which Glock doesnot have, but I dont like externel safeties. They are the reciepe for desasters and mishaps, and it delays response.

Would like to see what you guys thinks?

It has been recently reported that the reason the Beretta became the U.S. Side arm was not because it was the better pistol, but was a Political payoff. I have heard one person state that it as so the US could station Nuclear weapons in Italy.

Going to 9mm was a mistake, and going to the Beretta was a mistake as well.

Well Oneshotonly,

It actually looks like you did a pretty darn good review already. You didn't leave much room for anyone else. :-)

My favorite out of all the ones you listed is the Sig. I do not own a 226, but I have shot one, and I really Really liked it. I think it is styling like a Porche.

I have also shot the Beretta 92 and the Glock 22.

I agree with you on the 92. It is Italian Styling.

I just dont get, and never will get the opinion that the glock has Style. When I look at a glock I see a pistol designed to be as simple as possible to operate, that is very utilitarian and plain. Not plain in a bad way, just it isnt all frilled up like the Beretta. If I had to give the Glock a style I would say that it would be the 1980's Chevy Pickup of Semi Pistols.

Fire for Effecct: If you send me 50$ I quit claim to you all my interest in CZ pistols.

On saftey and decocking issue they are very much related and the reason decoking was intorduced is becuase it delays response.

Do you rememnber in whose administration decision was taken to bring Beretta in to service?
Thanks.

Leucoandro: Thank you for your input.

the glock was pretty easy to decide against with the other two options... but then it was pretty hard to decide between the sig and the beretta. I ended up chossing the sig since I feel over all its a more practical piece dont get me wrong the M92 is a damn sweet gun. but it could also double as a boat anchor pretty well too.

Fire for Effect: You may add Browning "all models".

As per safety issue- An advanced, trained professional person may not have an issue with disengaging the safety, but someone like me who uses guns for collection and protection in the part of the world where sometime you barely get time to squeeze the triger- decoking works better for "me."
