AK mags

Im about to buy my first AK and i will be looking for some mags. I found the East German mags for a decent price, any good? Im used to problems with Mini-14 mags so i just want to know what to look for and what to stay away from. Im mostly looking for 30 round steel mags for around $20 since i plan to buy about 10 of them.

If you look around some of the AK forums you can usually find people selling the Yugo BHO mags for cheap. I got some from a guy on akfiles.com for $10 each not too long ago and they work 100%; a little surface rust but no dings and they cleaned up nice. Are you looking for them as shooters or collector's value?

I like the Bulgarian type steel 30's because of the fit,finish and reliability. Bulgarian type have a spine to the rear of the mag. unlike the chinese style. I think you'll find that the AK will use just about any mag. and it'll be more of a style or craftsmanship decision for most. I have 3 Romanian type that you can shave with, very sharp edges and blood thirsty points on the feed lips (they work fine but they're pretty rough). www.cdnnsports.com these guys have decent prices and many mags for different types of weapons.
