Greetings!!!!!
Do you guys ever shoot at the Brooklyn MS range (desoto national forest)?
That public course is a mess, people have been trashing it up a bit. To the extent that is looks as if they dont care at all about having a safe place to shoot. It is gonna get closed unless things change there. I think it needs cleaning up and im sure the govenment isnt going to do it...

The coast is getting better here lately. Seems like alot of the trash that washed up after the storm is finally moving on.
I use that Desoto range quite a bit. I also use the gravel pit across the road for longer range work. It is also a pretty good place for move and fire drills. I usually go to whichever spot is not occupied. I am also a member of gulf coast pistol and rifle club. I hardly shoot there anymore though. The crowds get to be a pain on the weekends.
I am looking forward to the next gunshow down here. I am will definatley be doin some trading.

Welcome Zydeco76. I know it takes a long time to recover from the hurrican damage. The Rita damage in Lake Charles is still seen if you look. Like some "blue roofs" are around, and down town at the lake the Hahrah's Cassino is still leaning into the Lake. Our aircraft hangers at Chanualte are just about repaired.
You got hit by both canes didn't you?

Hey there Cajun,
Rita mostly just scared the hell out of us here in Harrison county. We were pretty shell shocked from Katrina. Alot of things have changed here permanently. We have illegals everywhere now. That was rare before. We also had alot of jobless people from up north come down here and this has created a seriously bad combination. Drugs are everywhere now. Alot of the oppositon to the mega condo's has also colapsed. The new construction here is creating an urban toilet bowl. We dead center in Katrina's path and i could go on for pages about the events we experienced in the wake of the storm. I am actually considering moving away from the coast. I can live with hurricanes. The anarchy that followed Katrina is not something I want to deal with again. My home rode the storm out well but I have a bunch of crooked oaks now on my property. I am glad to see you made it through Rita ok. I know she hamered your part of the state. I will never be without a generator again.

I know what you mean. I just retired, and moved about 180 miles North-North West to Texas. This is just out of the wind damage range, unless the coast gets hit by a cat 5  . I also moved from 9 ft elevation to 425 ft, so I don't have to worry about flooding anymore. :D
How's the new place coming along Caj? Have you got a new home up and in place yet?

No its going slow. Talked to the tax man, and decided to reduce the size of the house by 200 sq ft. as they measure outside sq ft not inside. I got 120 ft driveway graded filled, and coated with cement wash, got the boat pad done. Took me half day to get the boat out of the woods, and onto the pad. Got the water bore under the road done, and meter hooked up. Now I have 70 lbs of water pressure! Burned my house size brush pile. Flames were 40 ft high.
Now I'm clearing house footprint. Now I can see the slope of the lot, and may have to move it 60 ft fwd toward the road as it is higher and flatter. I'm still 120 ft from the road. Chainsaw shot craps, so may have to buy another one.
They won't give me a temp power pole till the slab, and septic is complete. Guess I will be ready to take bids on doing the slab in a few weeks. I think things will proceed at a steady rate once the slab is up. Looking fwd to it.
