Hi,

I just saw this on e-bay. Anyone familiar with either this manufacturer or style? How effective is it compared to others? Is the bayonet lug useful, or falls short in effectiveness? Build? Fit and finish?

Thanks!

Its a black warrior type. I have seen several on mini's in the pics forum here. They seem to be pretty good from what people say but I have no experience myself. I'm sure someone who has one will chime in sooner or later...

Welcome aboard alnitak. I believe it is long about 5". Several members have them. The lug is legal under federal law since the 92 ban, but states like Calif, they are still illegal. Check your states gun laws. They are in the Mini-Links sticky, under Gun laws.

Actually bayonet lugs on semi auto rifles aren't California-illegal, they're mentioned nowhere in the "assault weapons" ban. The lawmakers must be kicking themselves for not stopping the drive by bayonet-ings.

I just ordered one from cheaper than dirt for $40.00. I saw the same thing at a gun show this weekend for $44.00. If I don't like it, my plan is to cut off the front sight and pin it on my barrel and then thread the end of my barrel for a M-16 flash hider. kwg

Just an added thought. For the Black warrior flash hiders of this design without the bayonet lug. Could a guy cut off the "flash hider" part turn the sight around and run the long extended part toward the barrel step? Would this help control the barrel resonance issue and help with the accuracy if a person did not want to to have the flash hider or if he wanted to thread a flash hider on? I'm thinking out loud here. kwg

You may have an idea worth trying kwg020, take some measurements of the id and barrel od and see if its worth spending time to make a project out of.;)

I ordered the flash hider from cheaper than dirt and the delivery date will be in the middle of March. It might be a while before I get to experiment. kwg

Have you received the brake yet?

I just put the brake on today Idive. I have not had the chance to try it out. It looks OK and it fits snuggly on the barrel both in circumference and up to the end of the barrel so there is no gap between the end of the barrel and the exit end of the hider. The color was off from my older stainless Mini so I used a scotch brite pad and shined up the hider.

Will it help with accuracy? I don't know but that's what I am looking for. If it does not I might try cutting it and reversing it and then doing a screw on hider. I don't have a camera so I can't send pictures. kwg
