.22-250... what scope?

Just put my savage model 12FLV(left handed) .22-250 on lay-away. I would like to have a scope for it before or at the same time of making the full purchase.

I really dont want to pay more for the scope than i did the the gun.
So i guess im looking to pay at most $500 for the scope. Im looking for a range finding/tactical scope more than anything. If anyone has any suggestions on one i would appreciate it, or even just a regular mult-powered scope w/o the range finder.

Cabelas has one in its own brand name called the the "centerfire turret tactical scope". I seen it carrys turrets for .22-250 rounds. but for the highest power scope 6-18X only being a 170.00 I cannot imagine them to be all that good in quality. Does anyone have any experience with their brand of scopes?

I put a Burris Signature 8-32x 40 on my 25-06 for long range coyote shooting. Excellent scope.

slickest - boy asking what scope to put on a gun opens up a big can of worms. I suspect that everyone has their favorite. Personally I have Weavers on all of my weapons. 36 fixed - three KT15 (which I think are the best scope of all) and two V series 16/24. I think first you have to determine what the weapon will be used for. If your quick hunting - a fixed scoped would be the best - varmint hunting - a multi - power scope is best. If your hunting in heavy wooded area - a low power - or open range like Idaho is - a higher power or multi power scope. Leupold scopes are some of the best - just way out of my price range. I know I did not answer your question - but I think your going to be the one to decide on what scope you "need" rather than want. Buy the very best you can afford - some of my scopes have been on many weapons - while the weapons have been traded off - the Weaver scopes stay with me. - some of my scopes are older than member here at PU....oh my gosh ----:blink:

For coyotes and other pests, you might want to check out the Super Sniper Scope on Google.
This scope is fixed power, but what rave reviews for $300 and change. It does wonders on my .220 Swift.

;) Take a look at the Mueller scopes at their website-I bought a 4x16 tacticle and put it on a ASI custom mini,and no regrets!Clarity of a leupold(and I own many leupolds),built solid enough to handle the abuse of the mini bolt"slap",good adjusting mech's,and the option of illuminated reticle,at half the price.I would buy another to put on a new gun!:D

Id do a leupold 4-14x40mm VXIII long range with The varmint reticle thats if I had an extra 600 bucks laying around for a scope. but since I dont I usually opt for millet or bushnells in the same magnification class.

Im a big fan of Burris' Ballistic Plex reticle and have a few Fullfield IIs. If you have the money I would shoot for the 4.5x14-42 AO Fullfield II with Ballistic Plex. I mean, if you just have to have the big magnification you could do 6.5x20-50 but I havent been in any situation where I HAD to have a magnification above 14x but....I also live in the mountains and wide open spaces with more than 400 yards are few and far between. Anyway, I swear by Burris scopes and they have the excellent Forever warranty which has been very forgiving to me.

I have just purchesed a tikka t3 stainless in 22-250 and have a Leupold VII zeroed at 100 yds and wondered if this scope is capeable of adjusting enough to shoot 600 yds?

What he said. Have the 4.5x14 on my RR and the 6.5x20 on a 25.06 bull barrel, love 'em both. Also the cheaper 3x9s.
