Two nagging issues with the BC folder are play in the shoulder stock and lack of a cheek rest. The play in the shoulder stock, on my rifle, was the result of the loose fit between the pivot pin and the investment cast boss that the wire stock is welded to. My pivot pin measured .500” while the hole in the boss measured .506”. This seemed to account for 90% of the up and down play in the stock. My fix was to degrease the boss with carb cleaner and brush a coat of J B Weld on the inside of the hole. When cured, I re-drilled the hole with a .500 bit. The result was a super tight fit that required a hammer and aluminum punch to re-install the pivot pin. This removed almost all the play from the stock.
My cheek rest issue was compounded by the high B-Square scope mount and made a cheek weld impossible. My fix was to mill a cheek piece from maple, lacquer it and attach it to the stock with 8-32 screws. It’s a little high for iron sights but perfect for the scope. The screws pass through 3/16” holes drilled between the stock wires and counter bored on the back to form flat bottomed counter sinks. This keeps the nuts from spreading the wires in the stock.
It all came together as planed and if it stops raining tomorrow I’ll see if I’ve “done good”.
