I just got in this mini, it is 25 years old and like your typical mini it shoots at best off a solid bench rest 4"-5" groups.
Now I know I am new to this large world of mini 14 owners and have made a few claims of what I am doing. I will let this gun show you over the next few weeks what I can do with one of these fun guns. Now I live in Canada so my test will depend on the weather that we are having.
So let me show you what I can do.
i dont know how to add a picture of the gun and the groups but i will try.

Would it be too expensive or time consuming to test the gun at each stage of modification and let us know the resullts?

i will give results at each stage. i want to put a stabilizer on it first. just to show what that alone will do. then it will get the whole package. bedding crowning, gas block mods (or a new custom gas block) trigger ect.
i might put on a custom gas block on but i normally dont put them on factory barrels. it is something that i do on heavy barrels only.
but we will se what happens.
now this will not be a post that you can follow to "learn" how to do the work, after all i am a gunsmith and i want to make a living. this will be a post on who i am and what i can do to prove my self.

That's cool. Not wanting to take away your livleyhood, just interested to know which mods make the biggest difference in accuracy.

I just finished the trigger job on the mini. it started out at just under 6lbs. now it breaks at a crisp 3lbs. I am not Anticipating that the trigger job will make a big difference. but i cant stand to test a gun that has a poor trigger so it was the first thing I did.
the most important thing when I do my trigger jobs is THEY ARE SAFE. i get guys asking me to bring there guns down to unsafe weights all the time and i wont do it.
