Somewhere in my head is the notion that folding rifles have to measure 26 1/2
inches long when folded. I put my BC Ultralite bbl. in my folder and try as I might it comes up 25 1/2. I am very unhappy with the bbl anyway and am shopping for a replacement. I have 2 questions, first am I crazy or is the 26 1/2 really a leagal minimum. Second if I got this bbl.http://www.hornetproducts.com/ViewProduct.asp?ModelNumber=901512 could you open up my folder and bed it in? I know it's silly but the folder is my 4 wheeler gun of choice.

I found federal references [in the context of sentencing guidlines] to rifles with an overall length of "less than 26 inches", but could not find the code that states the exact nature of the offense [I'm not a lawyer]. I do have a memory of a federal minimum overall legth restriction. Since you would be only 1/2" off the 26" length, have you considered permanently installing a slightly longer flash hider or muzzle brake?

Looking at my mini with folding BC and stock barrel (no hider or brake), mine has an overall length of 27 15/16". I had planned to reduce the barrel from 18.5" to 16.25". With your "heads up" on this, I'll also keep the overall length issue in mind as well.

Legal minimums are 16 inch barrel with an overall length of 26 inches for rifles. As for opening up the stock, I think the BC stock is solid enough to open the barrel channel without hitting a hollow spot.

You could permanently add a muzzle part, or add an appropriate length spacer under the butt pad. Since you're thinking of a new barrel anyway, you're on the right track with a longer one.

Gundoc - Thanks for the professional input. I should have left well enough alone and waited for your reply. :D
