View Full Version : Is m193 your mini's most accurate round?
My mini likes M193 type stuff. I was wondering if any other mini owners have found that thier mini likes m193 the best? For some reason I don't get flyers with m193 like I do the other stuff. Anyway, thanks.

M193 isn't brand specific. It's just a specification set forth by the military for 55 gr ammo.
M193 is made in the Lake City ammo plant, which is currently operated by Federal. However, Winchester also produces some of it as well.
Right now, thanks to Clinton, we can no longer receive loaded surplus from our own military. Therefore we have to buy foriegn M193 when it is available (like the IMI from Israel) or buy the factory seconds that come from Lake City/Federal and Winchester, that don't fully meet the mil-spec due to a lack of sealant for example and get sold off to us directly from the factory. These two loads are the XM193 from Federal and the Q3131 from Winchester. Now, don't let the "factory seconds" part bother you, as this ammo is still every bit as good as any commercial ammo you will buy. It's just lacking something minor that's required of military ammo. It may be something as simple as inconsistent sealant on the primer or case mouth. Since we aren't going to be wading through rivers or sloshing through the surf on a beach, this makes little difference for civilian shooters. Thus, I buy all the XM193 and Q3131 I can get, when I find it at a good price, which is rare these days.
That said, I am looking at trying some of the Prvi Partisan (sold under the Wolf name but made of brass case/boxer primed brass...and not produced in Russia) that's available in 200 rd battle packs. This is new production ammo and most of what I have heard about recent batches sounds favorable. Some had issues with batches made in 05 and earlier in AR-15's because it used a stick powder instead of a ball powder and it caused issues with cycling. But it appears they have now gone to the proper type of powder (ball) for 2007. All reports I have read over the past month or so shows users really love this ammo. It is hot, clean and accurate. It's also cheaper than Q3131 or XM193. Hopefully this ammo will keep flooding into the country while XM193 and Q3131 are running a bit short and expensive.

Where could a fella get some of this ammo, and what grn. bullet is it?
Thanx
IMR, AIM Surplus had it for the best price ($225 per 1000 rd case), but they are out of stock right now. However, I think the Sportsmans Guide and Ammoman.com may also have some. I am sure other vendors do as well. Just try a search for Wolf or Prvi Partisan 55 gr M193 and you should get lots of results.
