i receintly purchased a trapper spring kit off of ebay, it was cheap so i went for it. it comes with a heavy recoil spring lightend trigger and sear spring. the reason for my purchase was that in ny all i can own is ten round mags so i have pro mags and the first two rounds wont feed properly from stock promags from my gun. since then i have reshaped the feed lips on all of them and i am going to polish the feed lips also. just reshaped it will feed 9 rounds reliably, the first one is still a b*tch. i assumed the heavy recoil spring will solve this. if it is to strong i figured id cut it alittle. i am not interested in dropping my casings closer to me, not the reason i bought the spring. i do not have a smaller gas port bushing so i have full ruger force pushing back my operating rod. do you think this spring will cause problems. some people said itll have more felt recoil, which doesnt bother me either. will it effect the rate of fire at all, seeing as how the spring is stiffer taking longer to cycle, or no? anything else? also have any of you used the trapper spring kit, trigger and sear springs, comments? thnx all for any input.

I don't see how it could cause probs. unless it's so strong the action can't cycle and I doubt that'll happen. As far as recoil I would think it will be less felt as the extra spring force will hold the bolt closed a split second longer and it will absorb more of the force of the op-rod comeing back when it does cycle. You will notice it slamming home with more force, and that was what you needed so the magazines would more reliably.

will it effect the rate of fire at all, seeing as how the spring is stiffer taking longer to cycle, or no?
The amount of force applied by the spring will not affect the rate of fire enough to notice. The amoumt of time it will add the cycle would be measured in miliseconds.;)

Hope that helps, I haven't had experiance with these particular springs but I've been useing a heavy duty recoil spring for years and they are worth the money.

ok i just installed the whole kit. the recoil spring is ALOT stronger than the factory one was. its so strong its got me scaired that its gonna knock my gas block right off. im positive now that it will feed all ten rounds. im just scaired its gonna cause damage to my gas block or bushing. i also installed the trigger and secondary sear spring and polished the hammer and sear. the first stage is definately light pull. the second stage, i cant tell i almost think its heavier then it was, it is a clean break now though. the secondary sear spring was alittle shorter but the coils were closer together so im thinking it could be stronger than the factory. over all it was worth the time and the $8 i paid. i might still play around with the secondary sear spring not sure yet. thnx for your advice.

just to give an update on the trapper spring kit. i fired my mini last weekend with the new mods. the recoil spring functions perfectly. all rounds eject, stronger feeding. i really didnt notice a change in recoil either way, but im not that tuned into my guns yet. two of my mags would not feed the second round out without alittle push. im gonna polish those feed lips and see if that helps im sure alittle breaking in of the mags will fix this though. the trigger spring was alittle gritty at first but its starting to smooth out. i modded the sear spring so thats irrelevent. over all it was worth the time and money. :)

I sanded my feed lips just a little, it seemed they were sharp and grabbing the cases before they were fed. I did not have any trouble after that.

yeah i sanded mine also. i dremeled them round and then use 600 grit. i allways have this problem though, they are real stiff for like the first 300 rounds then they work fine. im gonna polish them and then break one in at a time till it works then move on to the next. thnx for your suggestions though.
