That's here in Montana, I have a cabin at the bottom of the
mountain, great hunting/fishing area. Took 6 hours to pack
out yesterday, I'm a little sore this morning. Nothing like
elk hunting.

I'm in the high country in the Upper Clarks Fork Basin, taking out a
young one on the first elk hunt is a special time to be sure. Hope
you get some fresh snow.

Billings is a bit out of my usual range, tho I do get into the Breaks
country every now and again. Summer's get pretty busy
on the ranch, I hope to retire and turn it over and spend more time
roaming around in the hills in a few years.

I do make a couple of gun shows every year.

Those Elk are really awesome compared to the WhiteTail.

First time I saw one, I was on my bike with my wife when we came upon a group of them. They stepped over a cattle fence like it wasn't there. I thought I was in a science fiction movie. I had never seen racks like that.

Hunting elk has the same skill set as whitetail's in the brush, just on
a larger scale. Once you knock an elk down you have
to roll up your sleeves and be prepared for some very
hard work. I work out year round to be fit enough to
hunt elk--it's not for softies..at least where I hunt. A life style
of sorts.

The meat is the best of all the deer IMO, this bull filled
my freezer, lots of steaks for the grill, no room for a deer
this year...all natural, no chemicals in the mts just wild
grass and spring water..the way it should be..
