Am I the only one who feels that there ISN'T a "terrorist behind every tree"?
On 9/11/2001, a small band of misfits caught the entire US govenment with it's pants down around its ankles. The morons in charge got a couple "Freedom Medals" and not one single incident of discipline against ANY intelligence (I use that word, tongue in cheek) employee. Even the National Jester said at a White House news conference... "This isn't about blame." Heck no it's not about "blame".. why on earth would we think a public employee should be expected to do their jobs.
Fear mongering and national hysteria.... the Bush legacy.
i don't think it's as simple as that. for sure, there is a threat. has it been completely blown out of proportion and dealt with inneffectively....YES! i think it's naive, however, to call this bush's legacy alone. he has been aided by our senators and representatives who collectively seek to have a firmer grip on the populace, by the media, which reports irresponsibly and helps promote a climate of fear and alarmism in the name of sensationalism and ratings, and lastly, by the american public, which gladly remains blissfully unaware, so long as we continue to have access to every possible creature comfort that comes along.
if anyone else had been in office through all of this, i firmly believe, though the method might have been quite different, that we would have reached very much the same point where we are now.
i'm so tired of bush bashing. and it's not because i support him, or think he has been an effective chief. it's because concentrating solely on his shortcomings and mistakes only serves to promote the idea that there must be SOMEONE in this government that really does represent the will of the people. there is not. bush is only one of hundreds of 'leaders' that are ultimately concerned either with themselves, or with maintaining the status quo in the federal government.....which is also ultimately self-serving.
we are in trouble. voting in this upcoming election amounts to being complicit.
The threat is real. All one has to do is look at Europe to see the threat and how the worlds leftists are either to stupid or to weak to do anything about it. You say Bush is a fear monger. Your side is worse. You are a bunch of ostriches.

You got it backwards again.
It is you who is an "ostrich", for being so blind to the fearmongering tactics your precious "leaders" use to keep you and your kind loyal.
And you call us stupid...
It`s all about money.
...and control, power, the ability to ram any new law down our throats in the name of Homeland Security/anti-terrorism.
Of course there is a terrorist threat. It was amply demonstrated by 9/11 and countless other terrorists atrocities throughout the World. IT's serious and to ignore it or to say that it doesn't exist is indeed stupid. Of even more concern though, is the threat we face in the assault on our freedom by those who hype this threat and use it to prey on the fears of the Sheeple in society to consistently erode our freedom in the name of combatting terrorism. The threat is real, but the response is being manipulated soley for political gain. What do we gain if we win over the foreign terrorists, but awake to find ourselves helpless prisoners of a brand of terrorism run by our own politicians?
While there is a legitimate threat of terrorism we are being enslaved by the govt in the name of safety.
The most dangerous terrorists are in washington laboring toward their nefarious goals under the guise of legislators.

terrorism, huh.
nobody understands terrorism. one man, one nuke. terrorism.
hell, we've already got that.
so now, just who is keeping you safe? and while we're on this subject, how did any of us ever come to believe that we could be "kept safe"? how did that bull**** idea get into the American wetware?
that must have been on television.
we are idiots.
as for Congress conspiring against us, an idea in an earlier comment in this thread, well I think we all know that Congress is damn poor at conspiracy. I mean look at 'em. conspiracy? incompetence, arrogance, jealousy, avarice, lust, perversion; no problem, I see all of that. those are all individual events after all. but conspiracy? we are talking about a herd of cats here. who's gonna' pitch?
so yeah, conspiracy. ****. just to be really damn clear about this: Congress is not running the big show, Bush is. The Decider is running the show. you are not running it, I am not running it, your Congressman is not running it, no "terrorist" is running it. Bush is running the show. He is The Decider. Himself, the Apostle George, wireless Hotline To God and all the rest of it. converses with The Man every day, takes notes on paper (scribbles in the margins of the Sears and Roebuck catalogue as he's sittin' on the ****ter I suppose). one man, one nuke. 'cause he's The Decider and father always knows best and God wants him to be President.
got it?
so how do you folks like being "kept safe"? how's it working out for you so far?
so who the hell is this "terrorist" fella?

Good point. I keep myself as safe as I can.
we are idiots.
Thanks to govt controlled education.

I disagree. they are all out for themselves but they are an elite fraternity. The ultimate goal is power. Their appetite for it is insatiable.

Wrong. the president does not have that much power yet. But the last 4 or 5 administrations have grabbed more and more power they were never intended to have.

Terrorism is for real, to say it's a scam would be an insult to the families that lost loved one's to it...When I was in the military (European tour), we all became very aware of terrorism-ala' communist combat fighting cells, the I.R.A. and alqueida etc. Please think back or research before the 9-11 events and don't limit it to the U.S. soil. We have many intrests that were struck by terrorism over the years as well as red blooded Americans. Bombing's, hi-jacking's, kidnapping's and assasination's... 9-11, U.S. navy ship, embassy in Africa, trains in Spain, the earlier bombing of the trade center in the parking garage, Oklahoma, marines barracks in Beirut, Disco in Germany where many American's were, lacherbee Scotland flight, Ted Kazinsky"uni bomber", The Maryland sniper shooting's and the one that got my attention NATO SUPPORT ACTIVITY (my duty station),the front of our building was leveled by a car bomb (C.C.C. claimed responsibility). I think a more fitting title should be "Don't use terrorism to make us forget the state of the union"
