savage model 10= $400
bsa platinum 8-32x50= $80
1 box surplus 308, 20 rounds= $3
three touching holes at 100yrds= priceless
i finally got some bench time with my savage and new scope a few days ago and once i got it sighted in, it made me smile. i am really surprised with the bsa scope. seems to be some quality optics for cheap, i know that those 2 words dont normally go together when talking about optics, but im very happy with this scope. i see a bsa sweet22 scope for my marlin 60 in the near future. anyone have a sweet 22 scope? comments? ill try to post some pics later if i can figure it out.

My brother just bought a BSA sweet 22 scope and mounted it on his .22 rifle. It seems to work as advertised. I bought one yesterday and have it mounted on my Ruger 10/22. I'll let you know in a day or so how it does.

i cant belive it you just posted the exact combo that i am in the process of putting to gether............. so the BSA PLATNUM is working well for you? good cause i had some concerns when i ordered it. i hear a lot of mix reviews. By the way how is that Accu-trigger treating you? i plan on getting the model 10FLP may go order it tonight.
thnx, please let me know how you like the scope. i like the platinum alot. im sure there is alot better scopes out there but for the money im very happy with it. the accu trigger does its job, its alittle rough, just alittle. i have mine set at alittle less than half, im gessing its around 3-3.5 pounds. just enough that i know when its gonna go off, yet not enough that the gun jerks when i pull the trigger. i love the fact that i can fine tune the trigger. i found my sweet spot. if you wanted to spend the money im sure a gun smith could produce you a smoother trigger on a non accu trigger model, but im happy with what i got. i really like the safety feature of the accu trigger i have tested it out before i lightend the trigger and it works pefect, also the little blade thingy gives my brain the perception that it is a 2 stage trigger, which i prefer. the bolt isnt the smoothest thing out there but it does the job. over all i would definately buy this combo again. very good gun and a great value to boot.:) if someone wants to host a pic for me ill put one up. my group is a half inch at 100 yds with surplus ammo. i fired 4 shots, the first was a flyer because i flinched the other three are touching. this was the last group i shot, had about 80 rounds down the barrel that night before this group. the range officer almost crapped his pants cause he just got done telling me that surplus ammo sux and ill never get a decent group with it out of any gun. works for me, but im cheap.

works for me, but im cheap.
Im with ya there 100% i just cannot budget 3000 dollar setup plus custom loads only to go shooting once a week if that. besides it really is interesting to find out what the cheap stuff can do....... might be the only option some day <_<
ok i think i figured the whole pic thing out. this is my group. i cut it out and covered it in plastic because i was proud and wanted to show my friend without looking like a nut job and carrying around a target. hope this works. i can seem to figure out how to resize this thing its still too big.

The scope seemed to work just fine, although to hit at 100 yards, I had to use the 125 yard mark. I have a Savage MKII target rifle on order. Once it is in, I'm going to put the scope on it and see how things work. I currently have the scope on a 10/22 and I'm not very confident in the accuracy of the 10/22. The ammo I'm using is Remington bulk pack golden bullets. This ammo has proved to be very accurate in my other .22 rifles.

Speaking of the accu-trigger. I have two rifles that have the accu-trigger. One is a Savage 10FP LH in .223 Remington and the other is a Savage MKII .22 Target rifle. I think the accu-trigger is great. I haven't had any problems with them and they beat all of the other out of the box triggers I have had, except for my match AR triggers.

I've heard many people put down the Savage factory stock on the 10FP, but I've never had any issues with it. Since my Savage will make rounds touch each other at 100 yards so I don't see any reason to spend hundreds on an after market one. I have a Sightron target model scope on my Savage.

I have a BSA platinum on my Savage VLSS12 ( I think thats the model...) 26" fluted stainless barrel, accutrigger, laminated stock, etc..etc... I LOVE IT... in .204 Ruger.
I can stick 3 shots inside a dime at 100 yards, with the 32 Gr. Hornady's at 4500+ FPS... ( Reloads... and yes, chronographed... )
I love tha accutrigger, and I love the BSA optics!!
Hmm... shameless photo op???
