1st let me say that I have heard from some of your before that "boycotts don't work". Go ask Jesse Jackson (The Reverend) about what happens when he just threatens to boycott, and I think he would disagree.

2nd, Our President is our President. Love him or hate him and say what you wiil. That's your right as an AMERICAN thanks to our fighting men and women and veterans.

But why should we allow a wacko like El Presidente Chavez from Venezuela to spout his insane ramblings on OUR SOIL against Our President and just stand by, even if you are a Bush Basher? I am no Cinton lover, but if some "head of state" had done this to him I would stand behind him too because he is (was) the President. Even if it happened now, I would still stand behind him out of respect for the office he held! Yes, even Hillary as a Senator gets my respect for the office she holds, even if I call her by not-so-nice names on ocassion.

It is my understanding that CITGO gets most of their petroleum from Venezula. Please do not buy CITGO gas, even if it costs you a whooping 3 cents more a gallon. You think if everyone would take the hint and hit Chavez right in his corrupt wallet (a.k.a. right in is ass), that it would not send a message?

While I'm at it, if not for extreme radical environmentalists we wouldn't be so dependent on the likes of Venezuala, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. for our petro needs. The only rationale in that I can see is that we think they will run out of reserves someday before we do, then we will have it all in the Gulf and Alaska?

AZ, I understand what you're saying, and I don't necessarily disagree with it in theory, but what you suggest isn't quite that practical.

You can boycott Citgo gas stations, and it might have a slight effect. But Citgo is more than it's gas stations. Their gas is sold at thousands of other gas stations, both franchises and independents.

I used to manage a Union 76 gas station. We bought fuel from whichever supplier had the best prices, or simply had the gas first.

Try following a big gas tanker-truck around some time. It may have one name on the side, but it will visit many stations on it's route. I've even seen an Exxon truck parked in a BP station, filling their tanks.

Good post though... ;)

Alas, Boogy, you are of course correct. Phoenix and Tucson have TWO pipelines of gasoline being pumped to us from TX and CA. TWO. But we have 12 different brands probably nd NO refineries. We do have tank farms and MAYBE some reformulation takes place, but who knows?

Reminds me of the SRP BS (Salt River Poject). For an extra $X each month you can buy "Green Electric Power" from solar and other sources. Gimmie a break!! I don't give a rat's butt if it's from Palo Verde Nuclear Plant or a Solar Panel in the middle of Wind Canyon. It all goes into the same grid! Some Sierra Club members, spotted owl observers, and your usual environmental suspects pay the extra bucks and actually believe this crap!

Thanks for allowing me to rant for awhile!:)

7-ELEVEN FIRES BACK AT VENEZUELA'S CHAVEZ, DROPS CITGO AS GAS SUPPLIER TO STORES

**Watch FOX News Channel or go to http://foxnews.com (http://foxnews.com) for more

I realize that there are some who will say that FOX is a founding member of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" and find some reason to pohh pooh this, so let me ask a question too. Is 7-11 a part of the "conspiracy" too?

:)

Added later: cc of my E-mail to 7 Eleven:
Congratulations and Thank You for dropping CITGO! I'm extra proud of any American Company that stands up for what's right regardless of their principal's political beliefs. An asaualt by a a foreign leader, even verbal, upon our President whether you like him or not is an assault upon every American citizen.

I don't know... maybe I'm just to slow or too old fashion.

My goverment is saying something about 20 years before we are oil non-dependent.

Excuse me but has anyone looked at where Brazil lately? Maybe I'm just stupid but why re-invent the wheel?
