Legislative proposals would include limits on the sale of handguns to one per month; a ban on military-style assault weapons statewide; additional funding for police and police equipment; and a requirement that gun owners report a lost or stolen firearms within 24 hours.

The Democrats are licking their chops dreaming of repealing CWPs and placing further restrictions on, and completely eliminating, certain types of hunting like Dove hunting. There;s nothing a democrat loves more than the one gun a month rule.

Republicans might not be perfect[Duh!!!!!!!!!!!],but the Dem's are worse IMHO.Remember what it was really like under Clinton?Think his wife would be any different?Or Nancy Pelosi as majority leader?Lots of people, even gun owners think that Bush, etc.are the worst that ever lived.A case of selective memory,i think.Elephants have ledgendary memories!Don't throw your votes away in November. If your'e an NRA member, read what they have to say in "The American Rifleman" magazine. If your'e not,go to their website and get an education.:oHey Zen:There is one thing a Dem likes more than the one gun a month rule:The no gun a month rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!:2guns:

The way the same tired proposals keep coming back would indicate there isn't an original idea
from those people. Most of their menu came from the Brady Bunch anyway, a notably ignorant
group who voice a desire for laws based on how they feel, rather than on the merits of the legislation.

From the link:

"The firm interviewed 400 likely voters in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties and found that more than 80 percent of them said they support a statewide limit on handgun purchases to one gun a month. Nearly 75 percent of the Republican voters surveyed supported the one-gun-a-month limit.
The poll also found that 76 percent of suburban voters support a statewide ban on assault weapons."

Oh, yeah, you skipped over that part, huh?

Like I said before, we've had 6 Democrats and 6 Republicans in the Whitehouse in the last 60 years, and Democrats have controlled the House and Senate much of that time. I still have all my guns.

If you want to be a one-issue voter, that's your perogative. I would hope that most voters would be smarter than that, but then again, we have Bush in the Whitehouse... <_<

I'm not a Democrat, I'm not defending them, the reason I left the Democratic Party is exactly because they are generally for more gun control than I'm comfortable with.

All Im saying is there are many politicians in both parties that are anti-gun. Yes, I'll give Bush credit for letting the AWB lapse, but remember he signed the parts-kit ban, too.

Voting strictly Republican just because of the gun issue is pretty short-sighted, in my opinion. There are so many extremely important issues that are drastically affecting our country right now that I could not call myself a responsible voter if I only considered one issue when casting my vote.

Just shouting "Dems will take your guns" is hardly a realistic reason to only vote Republican. As I said, the anti-gunners have not been able to "take our guns" for 60 years, so I doubt they will have any significant success no matter who is in the Whitehouse or Congress.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And for those who will reply that I have nothing to say you are correct... as this has gotten old with me. My only comment is in this country we need thinkers of common ground. I'm tired of this Left and Right crap.

Am I out here alone? Is there not one other person here who thinks we need a common thinking group of leaders who not only have but use common sense?

Hello I'm standing here alone.....

Olds, you're not alone. Did you miss my posts (#6 and #8)? Is there any "Left" leaning rhetoric in them at all?

Other people here are trying to dump all the blame on "those evil Democrats". All I'm trying to say is there are more than one issue to consider when voting.

I agree the systematic disarming of American citizens is not a republican versus democrat issue.
It is a free citizenry versus a tyrranical government issue. Unfortunately the hugely effective propaganda machine in this country has the sheeple thinking it is a partisan issue.
All this blaming reminds me of Animal Farm. 4 legs good 2 legs bad

Meanwhile the NRA colects and spends millions in "defense of our right to keeep and bear arms". But look at the list of people who have voted for gun control and were endorsed by the NRA.

People need to start learning to think independently.

Goes to show how rare the politician is that sticks to his principles. The big problem with dealing with politicians is you are dealing with politicians.<_<
