I have been looking for a 96/44m....the Ruger Lever Action 44....but can't fine one. Although they are listed in the current Ruger catalog and on the web site....my gun shop was unable to locate any when I asked them to special order one for me. :( Any thoughts? Have any of you seen a new one in any of the shops you frequent?

We just bought one brand new through my FFL about 2 years ago, direct from Sturm Ruger Co. $369 I think.

As far as I know, they are still making them. Excellent choice, by the way, it's a great little lever carbine! Fast, slick action, light, easy handling and real accurate... comes with integral scope rings.

If I were you, I'd find a dealer that has an account with Ruger. Might be the gunshop you were in has "issues" or something... Good luck! ;)

I get the same thing here in CA. I know they are out there and nobody can really explain for sure why, but I can't seem to find one. Plenty of Deerfields but no lever guns.
