Wow, is that a M14 mag in the Vepr .308, or did they start making factory 20 round mags?

Yup M14 mag,Krebs modified the rifle to use unmodded M14 mags.

Thats Awesome! Krebs is a great company, I got a synthetic thumbhole stock from them for my Wasr 10 at half the price it cost elsewhere.
Again, WOW, That M14 mag is great, it certainly opens up new posibilities when shopping for a .308 autoloader. What did that cost you if you don't mind me asking? I wonder if they could do that to a .308 saiga?
You enjoy those excellent rifles of yours! Thumbs up!

I bought the rifle second hand, the conversions used to cost about 250.00-350.00 IIRC.I paid 775.00 shipped and it shoots like a champ.
Ultra reliable, ultra dependable and I do not have to worry about failures like an AR .308.I even have money left over to pimp it out unlike when you buy a PTR or a AR10.

I had it built.
It started life as a Saiga .223,converted to pistol grip all riveted properly,I had a Bulgarian 24mm FSB/Gas chamber combo installed, installed a real Russian AK100 series folding stock,Ultimak upper and lower rails.Krebs fixed 800m peep sight,Installed a bullet guide, had the mag catch modified to use Bulgarian 30 and 20 rd waffle mags, and Weiger mags.A permanently installed 24mm brake(this rifles has the recoil of a .22LR)to bring to legal minimum length.Over 2 years gathering parts and waiting on the AWB to sunset.
Saiga rifle- 225.00
folding stock -150.00
US FCG -35.00
RSA retaining plate -20.00
Gas tube -20.00
US upper and lower handguard - 75.00
Pistol grip- 25.00
peep sight -50.00
Ultimak set-350.00
FSB -75.00
Bulgarian mags -300.00
Labor and conversion -450.00
total: 1775.00 +/- 50.00 for shipping fees majority of this came from sales of misc guns parts, horse trading for some parts etc take offs from other guns etc.Money well spent, now if Krebs makes their KTR-O3S in a .223 I'll buy one of those.
Shoots better than any mini 14 I have played with,eats wolf 55,62 gr,any surplus .223/5.56 ammo 1-2" @50 if I try,2-3" just having fun,2" @100 if I try. 1:7 twist rate on the 12" barrel,extension reduces the felt recoil by 95%.
edit:I'm not putting down the Mini-14,for years it was my favorite rifle growing up shooting it with my uncle and of course the A-Team did not help either. But this is an ultra reliable system proven to be work under the worst conditions.

Awesome man, simply awesome. I have been considering getting me an AK in .223, I'm just not sure what brand/model I should go with yet.

If you want out of the box reliablity Vepr II .223,if you want to spend money on a conversion S-223, you can do what I did for a little less.AK USA can do the base AK102 conversion without the folder, same type of FSB for about 700.00+your rifle.About 700.00 less than what I paid.SAR 3's can be found for about 450.00-600.00 these are great guns.
But nothing is better than have a rifle that is marked "MADE IN RUSSIA"
Stay away from WASR 3 rifles, they are a crap shoot.

Yeah, if I was going to get a WASR, it would be in 7.62. I have heard nothing but good things about those for the most part, and they're cheap to boot.
But this time, I am wanting a .223 AK because I still have 300 rounds of 5.56 NATO from when I had my Ruger GB and I am craving something to fill the void left by the selling of my GB, but I want an AK this time....
