I feel that I will not be true to myself if I do not post the following warning.

When ever a foreign hunter wants to hunt a Lion overhere, beware, currently there are a problem with what we call "Canned Lions"
Some game ranches have projects where they keep lion pups in cages and make them semi tame, these pups, when they reach adulthood are released on the farm and then the Big Game Hunter from overseas hunt, the "wild dangerous lion", paying over his ears for it, not knowing that it is actually a tame lion. There was recently an incident where the farmer went as far as to drug a tame lion, place it under a tree and his timing was as such that when the Lion woke up, the guide and the American arrived and shot the animal. I do not blame the foreign hunters, they are taken for a ride.

Plz note that this is not taking place all over, it is isolated incidents, when coming here to hunt, make sure that you are not shooting a tame lion. These canned lions do not stand a chance and where is the ethics of hunting when you shoot a tame drugged lion?

If it is allowed, I will post the links of decent game ranches that I know of where it will not take place. I do not want to make use of this board to do advertising for hunting, so, I will pm it for those interested. Im am not a lover of hunting for trophies, but I will try to keep it ethical if it must be done.

Do a search on Google "Canned Lion hunts" if you do not beleive me.

Not that I'd ever want to shoot any lion, "canned" or not, These people who stoop to such despicable behavior ought to go to freakin' jail.

There is a practice here on bird-hunting ranches where they raise quail, pheasant, ptarmigan, etc. in pens, then when the rich hunters come with their money and their fancy-a$$ 28 gauge over-and-unders (ya'll know who I'm talking about ;) ) the handlers take the birds out in cages and "plant" them in bushes and such to be "flushed" for the so-called "sportsman". Apparently it's perfectly legal, but perfectly pathetic in my opinion.

I actually heard of one pheasant farm where they go and throw the raised pheasant from a tower err something and the "hunter" shoots it down, its kinda pathetic.

:o This sounds like the Canadian 'gargage dump' hunts. As far as the canned type hunts, that is done all over. I live in SE Ohio and there was a place about 50 miles from me where you could shoot-not hunt, about anything.

The farm raised bird hunts are done all over the midwest, it not just for the rich guys-us poor folk can go to-and a lot do.

Personally, I have not hunted anything to kill since I was in Nam back in the dark ages. Something about killing something that can't kill you is not my style. I'd love to go to Alaska and hunt brown bear-I probably wouldn't kill it-just take some good pics.:(
