Picked one up before, talked to a few people about them and I guess they are alright. Only thing I dont like about them is they are completely made out of plastic. Not sure about accuracy though I heard it is decent. I just decided they were not anything I would be interested in because of the large amount of cheap feeling plastic.

I have to agree. I was torn between the Mini and the Kel-Tec till i was able to handle them both at the same time. The Kel-Tec has alot of neat features but feels really cheap and rigity to me.
What's it worth?
I have a Russian SKS, 1952, Tula Arsenal, in very good shape. It has all matching serial numbers and is complete with bayonet and accessories. It's shoots very well. At 100 yards I can consistantly hit a grapefruit sized object with the original sights and my 60 year old eyes. Never had a problem with it, always fired flawlessly. The barrell is chromed.
What is a fair price for it?

I have a Kel-tech SU-16D model with the threaded barrel, brass deflector chanring handle and AR sights. Its a great handy little gun that uses a gas pistol system like the M16 SHOULD. I like it for a 16 inch shorty. It folds in half for easy storage, takes AR mags and shoots pretty good at 100 yards. 1 to 2 inches easy. There are several different styles that vary in looks and performance.
I have several mini's, AR's, SKS's, etc...and the Kel-tech fills a niche. I was skeptical when I heard then called "junk-techs" by several die-hard AR fans but I'm glad I bought one. Will it replace my AR or Mini...no. But I've been shooting those platforms longer and are used to them. But for a lightweight, very portable and easily maintained weapons platform that accepts AR mags (and will store 1-30 rouder or 2 10 rounders in the stock) this makes a great packing gun. I can even throw it in a backpack and be able to carry it while commuting on my motorcycle :)
The plastic is not cheap and holds up well to abuse. All of the important internals are made from good quality metal and the D has a heavier profile barrel. Tehy even make a handgun version that takes AR mags and one that fires while the stock is folded! By the way, isn't glock made from plastic and considered the most durable handgun by many? ;)
Thanks for the input, I was able to handle one (SU16-CA) at a local dealer, I was glad I did as this will be my next purchase. When looking at it on-line, the photos don't convey what you really see in person.
Not to go off subject too much, what do you ride for a motorcycle?

if you live in cali i would recommend the kel tec whole heartedly i've had mine for several years and am very happy with it. try a couple of different types of ammo and it will shoot 1 moa regularly. reliablity with 55-69 grainers has been excellent, the 45 grain jhp win will not function.

Suzuki Bandit 1200 (2005). Can't believe they stopped making them! Cheap reliable and a true kick in the pants. I couldn't afford anything else (Harley, etc...) and the insurrance was dirt cheap because it qualifies as a "standard" rather than a sport bike.

Which AR sight are you using on your keltec? POA AND POI alright?

It came that way from the manufacturer.
My bad...I checked the sight just now and I have the CA model. Don;t know why I thought it was a D model. The D is the short barrel version. The CA has the factory AR type front sight and a ghost ring rear sight that's a simple singe apperature metal ring.
JCW355: I asume you were thinking I had some aftermarket GG&G type AR sight clamped on. Sorry for the disapointment. But the stock ones work very well and I have no regrets. I've put an aimpoint on it for T&E and it worked well but made the otherwise sleek design when folded harder to pack.
I'm not to impressed with keltecs back sight. I have the a model and put the b model sights on it. I like the front sight because you can adjust it up and down plus it is changeable which I have already done with a kns hooded sight with cross hairs. As of now keltec isn't offering the d model rear sight as an upgrade yet, maybe that will change in the future.

If I were getting one of these rifles. I would get the C, but I suppose that is not an option for someone living in the Sunny Socialist Republic. That folding stock would make it easy to carry one into a school (just joking!). I have had a Mini 14 with a folding stock for some time and like it, although I get tired of defending it against inaccuracy charges. I just got an AR-15 (DPMS Panther Lite 16), which I am sure is banned in the workers' paradise. Seriously, the SU-16 is getting good reviews and would be worth having.
(I spend a good bit of time in Burlingame, south of SF, and really appreciate the weather and beauty of your state. Too bad it is so expensive and overregulated.)

I have no illusions about my standing with the emerging regime of Christian Fascism (not joking).
Back to guns: I have considered the SU-16 several times and have handled examples at the gun shows. But I decided I wanted something more substantial (Mini 14, AR-15). Maybe I was wrong. I have several Kel-Tec handguns, all of which have rather awful, spongy, heavy DAO triggers but are very portable.
