Anybody used one yet? I just bought one last week and pick it up Wed. Just wondering. At $450 I thought why not. It seems to have all the goodies I would throw in a built up 10/22 at a smaller price.
Did you buy the r 22? If yes where?

Bought the 22r Rhineland arms at Rivercity Gun Exchange in Sacramento. They are a dealer and have the brochures, etc... I think I got the last one in stock though. If you talk to them I'm sure they can order you whatever you want. They also stock fixed mag FNL's, M1A's, etc...and have a decent selection of just about everything. If they don't have it they will order it.

Brought it home today with a Simmons 44 mag scope. Overkill but the best one they had to offer and I can use it on multiple rifles. I'll just leave it on the 4X setting.
Fit and finish is good but the bolt handle need to be longer and wider. I have a "B" series that I think means the 2nd run if memory serves from their adds.
Magazine insertion is a little funky. You have to slide it in towards the rear of the mag well against the mag release and then push it forward to lock into the round relief to lock in the front of the mag. I had it down in about 5 tries but is deffinately different.
I do wish it had a bolt hold open catch though. I think it would make loading, unloading and clearing any possible jams easier.
I'll let you all know how it shoots as soon as I get to the range.
Sacramento is a little bit too far. What is an FNL (or did you mean FAL?). From what I know, M1 w 10 rd detachable mag is O.K. in CA. (wouldn`t buy one anyway). Let us know how your R22 shoots.

Plinky: may bad. I was tired when I was typing and the coffee hadn't kicked in yet! I meant the FAL style rifles (insert slapping head hear).
I'll let you know about the Rhineland soon. I mentioned the bit about the M1A's (M-14's) just becasue I had heard somebody was looking for one on a different thread earlier the day I posted. They have jsut about everything you can legally get in CA at River City Gun Exchange.
They are also have there AW sales license and large capacity mag license for us no-good LE types.

Hey, without you LE types we civilians probably couldn`t leave our homes without flak jackets . Keep up the good work!

Well, I had a mixed experience with my new R22 yesterday. When it functioned it shot VERY well. I think I have the standard barrel. I can only imagine what the heavy barrel is like.
I had several failure to extracts when using plastic lip buttler creek mags. It LOVED the metal lip verison and functioned VERY well with those. They are just harder to find and I only have 4 of them. Oddly enough it was common to have double feeds with my plastic lip BC mags. As a side note I used all of these mags in my 10/22 without fail on the same day using the same ammo without fail.
Normal shooting (once the scope was dialed in) was at around an inch at 25 yards. Not to shabby for me becasue I had LOTS of coffee that day and nothing to eat (too busy).
I noticed light firing pin strikes on most casings but all discharged. Since they use a modified Ruger bolt with Ruger internals I think I will replace the extractor and firing pin with something better. Can't hurt and hopefully it will fix the failure to extract problems.
I used Remingtons, CCI Velocitors, Winchester high veloctity bulk stuff, remington subsonics and Aguila SSS. I couldn't believe that the gun would cycle the SSS stuff but not the Remingtons! Well, all functioned but the Remingtons had the most problems. Typically the Remingtons double fed the most or hung up on the mouth of the chamber on loading. It liked the higher velocity stuff the best. I think this may be due to the AR-15 trigger assembly/ lock system and custom bolt.
All in all its a keeper. I think it will perform better after a good cleaning and break in period. I put about 200 rounds total though it this weekend.
I can't seem to get a hold of the maker in Texas though. All of my emails get returned "unable to deliver". They have a MP5 looking sight assembly on one of their web site guns that I'd like to have and my gun is groved to accept it.
I might ahve to look into getting one of their MP5 looking ones too.
